Album Review: Nutso – “REDSunday

Queens lyricist, Nutso, brings the heat & reps the underground to the fullest on his Domingo produced opus, “REDSunday.” Kicking off the proceedings with “Ill Street”(featuring the legendary Kool G. Rap), listeners are treated to the hardest beats & rhymes in the biz as we soon segue into a street anthem called “The New Testament”(ft. Cormega & DeadEye) that threatens to blow out your speakers as the crew boldly steps “back in the game like Phil Jackson!” “Scrappin” is next & it’s a pure masterpiece of sound as a boomin’ soul-drenched beat gets launched into the stratosphere with Nutso’s lyrical fury! “Don’t Test My Crown” soon steamrolls in with an electric wave of excitement provided by Prodigy, Twin Gambino, and Netousha. That power track leads into a sinister gem reminiscent of The Exorcist’s “Tubular Bells” theme called “1136668”(ft. Thru & Marly Metal). The deadly lyrics cut deep into the competition, setting the audience up for the Mr. Hyde featured “Brutal Sadistic” that centers around a female wanting to hear music from the elusive Nutso before her demands are met in a BIG way with an banger so hardcore it could shatter mountains! “Live Respect Live” then lunges in to shut down the scene with star appearances from Royal Flush & Spit Gemz.

“Life In The City”(ft. Tragedy Khadafi, Craig G & Robb P.) connects with another gripping soundscape & soulful hook that motivates the lyricists to shed light on the TRUE reality of surviving in NYC. The Tony Born & Kon Boogie album highlight, “Catchin Wreck,” shines a spotlight on artistic wordplay before “Show Must Go” comes out swinging with hard-hitting lyrics that shed insight on the emcee’s winning mentality. The trifecta of remixes that round out the project – “Galaxy Of Queens”(Remix) ft. CNN, Royal Flush, and Tragedy Khadafi, “Pockets On Swole” (Remix) ft. Tony Yayo & the “Queens Talk” (Remix) only reiterate what we’ve already learned up to this point…That Nutso is a lyrical force to be reckoned with who will deliver top tier material for many years to come. Add the legendary Domingo to the action and you get a power platter true Hip Hop Heads won’t be able to put down. It might be called “REDSunday” but this album should be played every day of the week!
