An awesome Indie band named “In Decatur”. By Cypher73

I love music in all forms. I started reporting for Insomniac Magazine 20 years ago to shed light on the many talented artists in my favorite genres that deserve more respect in the industry. So I bring to you a band from Central Florida (specifically St. Cloud, Florida) named “In Decatur”. I caught wind of them because one of the band members is a co-worker of mine. Many times I’ve been approached by co-workers at other jobs, neighbors, and other locals with their music project(s), asking me for a review in Insomniac. Reluctantly, I’ll oblige only to confirm that indeed those efforts were a waste of time. Now, I wasn’t approached for a review but rather just to listen. Let me tell you, this band got my attention right from the first track “Tonight is my night”, off of their 5 track self titled EP.

The best way for me to describe this sonic barrage is, think of a mix of Nirvana in their prime and Sonic Youth. The sound is raw and the craziest part is there’s ONLY 2 members in the band. Tyler Brennan Whitlock whose the Guitarist/Vocalist and Courtney Joel Lester on Drums. Two dudes kicking ass and taking names. Not to give too much away, all of their songs are powerful and other than the first track, I love the tracks “what good is the truth is” and “parasite city”. There’s also a beautifully created serene hidden track at the very end. I really can’t wait for new material from this band.
