With so many rappers resorting to misogynistic lyrics for shock value, it’s rare to find an artist who actually praises women & embraces the power of positive relationships. Brooklyn’s Fitz goes against the grain to create songs that revolve around female adoration & upliftment. The RG produced track “She’s My Music” perfectly encapsulates his “love will conquer all” romantic outlook on life.
The track unfolds with Fitz making a succession of musical analogies to describe his beloved soulmate(“Your heartbeat, That’s the bassline…She my Hip Hop with a little soul/(Whoa)play her like a drummer…”) These lyrics are enhanced by his animated gestures in the video. We view the emcee in a dimly-lit studio and receive glimpses of a drum kit & speakers as his performance becomes more impassioned with each verse. By the time Fitz exits the room, the most hardened viewer will believe in the power of love channeled brilliantly through his music.
