Insomniac Magazine’s Weekly Hip Hop Top Ten 082117

The best in quality Hip Hop. Don’t Sleep On These New Releases

The underground is unstoppable!!! Which is exactly why Insomniac Magazine strikes again with the latest Top 10! Peruse for your pleasure and enjoy the show!

1) ROCK makes his Digital Deja Vu Records debut on the countdown with “GW BaG!” The legendary Heltah Skeltah lyricist has a new project on the way called “Rockness A.P.(After Price)”…and he immediately makes it MUST LISTEN material by dropping a soulful Ford Tuff & Pascal Zumaque laced single along with an ill Black & White clip helmed by The Last American B-Boy. Lyrics & production are so on point you’ll be replaying this one all day. There are very few things I love in my life. Rock’s “GW BaG” is one of ’em!

2) NINE sure knows how to make an entrance! The near mythical mic overlord overtakes the underground & returns to the scene with a combustible Jesse West produced track that’s pure “Fiyah!” The “Buffalo Gals” sampling slice of supreme heat finds the BX’s hometown hero on a mission to slay mumble mouthed rappers & show the industry what SKILLS are all about! He’s crashing the stage with gasoline drawers on! There’s no fire extinguisher powerful enough to snuff out the flames!

3) DIRTYDIGGS deliver new “Side D” action featuring HUS KINGPIN & PLANET ASIA! Dope production & lyrics are the name of the game & the mighty brass horns are your warning sign that this joint’s gonna be a “Hot Boiler!” Hus Hasselhoff & the Asiatic ruler of the celestial skies guide the listeners to greatness. It’s a Winners/Gold Chain military party. You’re all invited to the sonic spectacle below!

4) APOLLO BROWN & PLANET ASIA serve up more “Anchovies” for the fans…and we definitely have a taste for their alluring new audio gem, “The Aura!” Turn up the music loud while meditating at night. We promise it won’t disrupt your serenity. Apollo & Asia just want to open your mind’s eye. Awaken your consciousness with this majestic aural display!

5) CRIMEAPPLE glides across new Sadhugold paved terrain to leave the competition in a fog on “Smoke Tint!” The deadly rhyme-slinger initiates an extermination process on wack rappers as he bodies the beat with ease. Sadhugold fuels his attack with a deceptively mellow soundscape to contrast with the ensuing bloodbath. Don’t bother running because there’s no escape. You know the drill. It’s about to go down!

6) THROWBAK claws through the clutter of the oversaturated music industry to drop authentic Thadd Ross produced heat called “84.5!” Godly rhymes are spit over heaven sent production that can’t be stopped! Your arms too short to box wit’ The Lord. Stand down & face defeat!

7) ALIANO & JAKK WONDERS launch “The First Step” in their underground takeover with a Ruste Juxx featured banger from “The Vanguard Heist!” The Pomona/Crown Heights/Johannesburg connection is in full effect as the sonic entities construct a Hip Hop masterpiece for the ages. Want in on the action? Take the first step and PRESS PLAY!

8) AVENUE is “All Business” as he catches serious wreck over V Don’s immaculately crafted production! Taking inspiration on the way Diddy does it, the talented spitter drops bold rhymes with designs on taking over the whole game! This isn’t just street music for the block. The entire world should bow down to respect the skills!

9) KOSS blesses fans with a dope J-LIVE featured banger that puts certain rappers on notice for flooding the industry with silly antics & weak rhymes! “Straight Up Pretenders” is a scathing takedown on all those so-called “artists” who should’ve never entered the game in the first place…and we can’t think of anyone better to deliver that message than the NYC rhyme slayer who never fails to bring the heat! Koss keeps the entire affair pulsating with top of the line production that ensure “Born To Live” will be the album to beat! Don’t pretend to like all that watered down s**t on the radio. Get wit’ THE REAL & listen below!

10) RSXGLD flex their power with the 14KT laced master gem, “JeSoS!” The “He’s The Driver, I’m The Shooter” colossal cut possesses soul to spare and ill rhymes to match the lyricist’s unique flow. Listening to RO SPIT’s cadence control is akin to watching the birth of a superstar. You need “JeSoS” in your life. Welcome him in then say Amen.

Well that’s it for this week. Catch ya next time and…DON’T SLEEP!
