Insomniac Magazine’s Weekly Hip Hop Top Ten: Don’t Sleep On These New Releases

Insomniac is back with the hottest Hip Hop tracks! That’s right, it’s Top 10 time again…so sit back, relax, and get ready for the heat!

1) BENNY took Hip Hop & made it his b**ch on the Daringer laced underground masterwork, “Rick!” The Griselda Records street soldier experienced a quick ascent to the top of the industry(AND OUR CHART)by delivering extra strength bars of steel that detail a fast life shrouded in drugs, loose women, and colorful crime sprees Scorsese couldn’t even imagine. Daringer went into maniacal architect mode & brilliantly weaved the entire affair together with compellingly funky production that unloaded the heat! Benny adds another notch to Buffalo’s belt by dropping a street song that would make the late, great Mr. James proud!

2) RAEKWON drops jewels and takes listeners on a tour of the gritty streets on the J Dot produced, “Crown Of Thorns.” The self-made poet & Top Chef of Hip Hop cooks up another winning track that makes “The Wild” a MUST BUY! Rae paints vivid descriptions of the seedy side of life with such bold strokes that you can’t help but be amazed! J Dot enhances his tale with a thematic score worthy of an Oscar-winning film composer. Together they make magic!

3) LIL ETO & JAI BLACK joined forces to deliver “Blessings” over Chup The Producer’s paranoia-inducing banger! Violence is looming around every corner as shooters step out of the darkness to make an example out of their enemies’ unfortunate actions. If the heat is on Eto & Jai they sure don’t show it. The competition want to shut ’em down but it’s impossible to stop a duo who don’t sleep – “Well rested/My essence is strong/I don’t get tired!” “Only a few lucked out”….Eto & Jai are endowed with more than luck. These emcees are blessed!

4) Whenever Enterprize Entertainment’s G.FISHER & Dark Keys collaborate on a project you can expect greatness! The latest example of their creative synergy is the #FishFrys banger, “Prometheus.” On G’s new Boom Bap explosive, the BX lyricist “scorches n***as for fun” with high-powered lyrics that incinerate all opposition! Dark Keys conjures up a soundscape so funky you’ll need to invest in a neck brace from the non-stop head nodding! If you want to hear the same ol’ joints that’s your choice but if you want some different s**t G. Fisher & Dark Keys are the duo to deliver!!!

5) ALIANO & JAKK WONDERS transport listeners to a dark & grimy realm of shady dealings & underworld excess on “Bad Influence.” The sinister sonic back drop provides the fuel for Aliano’s action-packed crime tale designed to scare away the faint of heart! Jakk creates another track that will keep you looking over your shoulder. No one’s there to jump you but you never know when a dope beat will snuff you from behind!

6) BANISH HABITUAL, SUPREME CEREBRAL, NOWAAH THE FLOOD & DEFINITE MASS maintain “Pure Balance” over Kurse’s lavish production & the underground is theirs for the taking! One look at the line up reveals Hip Hop’s heaviest hitters in the game. Only a select few can match their skills & they flaunt their supremacy over the genre with an unlimited stream of top notch bars! Get off on the track like sadomasochists and PRESS PLAY below!

7) L.A.Z. takes a momentary breather from rockin’ mics with Clear Soul Forces to deliver a new solo gem called “Celestial Vibes.” The Suhnraw laced slice of sonic heaven contains clever, playful lyrics that perfectly complement the bouncy soundscape & get us excited about the forthcoming “No Paperwork EP.” Real MCs still exist. L.A.Z. is CLEARLY one of the best!

8) PACEWON & SOLO FOR DOLO flow over a funk-filled aural canvass supplied by Mixed Signals Productions on “No Chill.” The Boom Bap banger sounds like an unreleased joint Dr. Dre leaked out of the stash with it’s distinctive G-Funk vibe. Pacewon & Solo For Dolo take advantage of the superior production by delivering equally superior bars to push the track over the top! “Take 16 paces & your wig gets peeled” The crew means business!

9) CLOUD CITY PROJECTS have fun sniffing, licking, and stabbing the kitty on the Demouche laced serving of audio insanity called “Cat Calls.” The Rickey Flair, Bunsen, and Tryf Bindope featured joint is a hilariously horny escapade into the adventures of cunnilingus & the power of the p***y! Play the joint when engaging in your own oral adventures & don’t forget to wipe your lip!

10) Kaytranada’s little bro, LOU PHELPS, has rhymes for days, months, years, and maybe another lifetime…which means talent most definitely runs in the family. On “My Forte” the Montreal lyricist teams up with his Canadian comrade, CJ FLEMINGS to flow over a track laced by big bro called “My Forte.” ‘Cry, cry, cry’…but they’ll be tears of joy as the emcees blast off for action! How many mics can they rip on the daily? PLENTY. Pour it up!

Well that’s it for this week. Catch ya next time and…DON”T SLEEP!
