K-the-i???

If De La Soul had a little brother who could spit rapid fire rhymes and who could weld twisted barb wire into beats, it would be K-the-i??? His new album “Broken Lover Letter” on Mush Recordings is a solid swig of Hip Hop on the fringes.

Cavite.jpg Also on the radar at the moment is the awesome indie flick called Cavite by Ian Gamazon and Neill dela Llana. With one central figure on the screen 95% of the time, these filmmakers prove less can be more with some creativity.

This film is truly mezmorizing. It follows a young man upon his arrival in the third world country of the Philipines. As soon as Adam arrives in his family’s country he gets a call letting him know his mother and sister have been taken hostage. He soon finds out that if he doesn’t follow the orders of the the Muslim terrorist group on the phone, Abu Sayyaf, he may not see his family again. The caller leads Adam through impoverished streets and towns trying to teach him a lesson about his country’s customs. The trek soon leaves Adam on a path where he needs to decide if he could commit a horrendous act to save the lives of his loved ones.

This is must-see thriller that features amazing visuals and delivers subtle, but tantalizing action.
