Pharoahe Monch’s “Lost in Translation” is a testament to Hip Hop greatness

If you don’t know Pharoahe Monch is a Hip Hop veteran, ask someone from an era that appreciated depth in their beats and rhymes. His entry into the music industry stems from the late ’80s when he began making music in New York City. During the early ’90s, his powerhouse crew, Organized Konfusion, with partner in rhyme Prince Po dropped a string of albums that were considered potent boom bap laced gems by fans of lyricism and intricate production powered through the art of beat digging. Organized Konfusion was one of the most underrated groups of the ’90s. During the latter part of that decade, once again, he delivered a stellar album that included a monster single that ripped through radio- “Simon Says.”

Here we are a quarter of a century after his foray into music, and Pharoahe Monch continues to prove that his dedication to the art of Hip Hop is unrelenting. His latest album, “Lost in Translation,” features a who’s who of soulful giants and amazing production. Salute to a Hip Hop giant and his pursuit of quality in a genre that more and more is oozing mediocrity.
