The First Rap Records

Many people credit The Sugar Hill Gang and Sylvia Robinson with releasing the first rap record, however, others know that the The Fat Back Band and Tim Williams actually released “King Tim III” a few months before “Rapper’s Delight.” Even fewer people know that The Golden Gate Quartet, a gospel group, released “The Preacher and The Bear” in 1937.
