I’m gonna be upfront, I’m not a big fan of Reggaeton music. For those who don’t know about this genre, Wikipedia states that Reggaetón is a music genre with roots in Latin and Caribbean music. Its sound is derived from the Reggae en Español from Panama. The basis for the rhythm was born in Jamaica while the rhythm was perfected and the lyrical content and mastery was created in Panama, although it achieved a greater worldwide popularity from artists from Puerto Rico. My intro to this genre came in the early 90’s with artists El General and Vico-C and I liked it only because it was similar to Dancehall. After that, the genre morphed into something I just couldn’t relate to. Around 2007, I was introduced to an artists named Tego Calderon and although I still wasn’t into the genre, I liked what this dude was kicking.

Fast forward to now and I only own 2 Reggaeton CD’s (out of the 700+ other CD’s I own), 1 from a real dope local artist circa ’07 named Dionis and an extremely dope artist from Florida via Tha’ South BRONX named CARNAAG. The thing about CARNAAG is he doesn’t spit lyrics about things in his mind, body and soul that are NOT true. In other words, he’s a REAL artist kickin’ REAL things. His lyrics make you think and are about topics like social issues, abuse and many of the problems that plague our society today but, it’s not all negative cause he spits positive lyrics too. So far he’s dropped two singles “La Primera vez” and “Dile” and is currently working on a full length album too. He’s been really busy going back and forth to NY to promote himself and recently picked up a Manager that’ll take him to the top. Give him and his art a chance and support CARNAAG by checking out his site: http://shoutout.wix.com/so/1LCZNi4i#/main
