199X Shares Fire New Project ‘Kandyland’ EP

LA-based artist 199X has finally dropped his long-awaited EP, Kandyland. The EP is fun, and 199X describes how he was in “rockstar mode when [he] was making this EP.”

The producer, writer, artist, and business extraordinaire, 199X, produced every song on his EP, except for the song “Kamera.” Arejeigh, who is 199X’s engineer, and also his brother, is responsible for creating the track.

The first song on his EP, “Gone,” is a fun party anthem with a unique beat that makes you want to move around and bop your head. The rapper said in a recent interview that the project is about the underground party scene that has sprung up during the COVID-19 pandemic and how 199X used that momentum to create his new EP, heard in how carefree the tracks are.

The second song on the EP, “Kamera,” is the only track not produced by 199X and instead produced by his brother/engineer, Arejeigh. The song has a mesmerizing beat and refrains with a little over a two-minute track, 199X delivers an incredible and noteworthy melody that is bound to get stuck in your head until you dance or sing it out.

The third track, “XXX,” is the song that will undoubtedly get you moving from the bass to 199X’s wordplay. The track is entertaining and a party-track anthem. “XXX” is the second shortest song on the EP but has the most prowess to be the most popular. The whole project will get you dancing and grooving, but it is “XXX” that steals the show and solidifies 199X as one of the next up-and-coming artists.

The eponym or self-titled track, “Kandyland,” is the shortest track on the album, timing in at just over a minute and thirty seconds, like “XXX” shows 199X’s versatility and prowess as an artist. While the whole project might have an overarching theme of cutting loose and partying, the songs sound nothing alike. 199X showcases his versatility and tenacity with his Kandyland EP.
