AM I AM- AM I AM LEGEND
Released late last year, 2011, “AM I AM LEGEND” is the second project I’ve come across from Orlando (O-Zone) resident AM I AM. Part of the Ozone super group the Vets of Kin, AM picks up where he left off. Although I received this LP/Mix Tape with no liner notes, I assume this is a mixture of instrumentals from other tracks and self production paired with AM I AM’s verbal gymnastics. I perceive this project as AM’s sharpening of his already deadly swords, and making sure people stay current on the moves he’s making. On this 17 track banger, you have a multitude of cameos from those that are known and those that are only known in Ozone. He sounds just as good, if not better, than most of the emcees he’s featured with; not the typical fair in the rap genre.
I’ve always liked AM’s skills. His delivery is effortless and lyrically, he could most def hold his own against any emcee. On “AM I AM LEGEND,” he easily creates a symmetry with the beat that’s laid out for him and those he’s rhyming with. Not many can handle both tasks, but for AM, no problem. This release is more of a concept mix tape than an original full release. There’s nothing wrong with this being a warm-up for bigger things, and if this is a warm-up, watch out for something amazing soon!
Without a doubt, this is something everybody should cop. It touches on all subjects and there’s enough skill to require you to hit the replay button on the constant. For more information visit: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000820037060 or http://www.myspace.com/amiamhiphop .
