Chris Rock’s film, “Top Five” has secured a worldwide distribution deal from Paramount Pictures. The movie initially premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival to rave reviews and spurred a major bidding war. However, all those hopeful distributors flew back home, quietly sulking in first class, after Paramount’s Brad Grey bought the film rights for $12.5 million(Sheesh…’Guess everybody LOVES Chris now).
Anyway, the film sounds like a potential hit. It will have a “Curb Your Enthusiasm” type of vibe and revolves around a day in the life of a comedian/film star played by Rock(who also wrote and directed the feature). Co-stars are Rosario Dawson, Tracy Morgan, J.B. Smoove, Kevin Hart, Romany Malco, Leslie Jones, Cedric The Entertainer, Michael Che, Sherri Shepherd, Cedric The Entertainer & Jay Pharoah…just to name a few.
So what’s the Hip Hop angle, you ask? Well, Jay-Z and Kanye West are co-producers and the Executive Music Producer is Questlove…There you go! Now we just need to know one more thing…When can we buy our tickets?
