“On this week’s episode (also my 51st Birthday) we sadly say farewell to one of my fave Hip-Hop Producers, D.J. Mark The 45 King was a true pioneer and innovator.
Mark just had a knack for a very finely clipped loop of a classic break or an ill loop that you just wouldn’t expect (The Police sample on Chill Rob G’s “Let The Words Flow” as a prime example plus his usual recipe of horns, rugged loops and thick bass lines always allowed his super talented crew of legendary New Jersey MC’s – The Flavor Unit (Queen Latifah, Latee, Lakim Shabazz, Chill Rob G, Lord Alibaski, Double J (RIP), Markey Fresh (RIP) & Apache (RIP) and everyone else he worked with to catch wreck on his dope soundscapes.
Mark was so much more than “Stan” & “Hard Knock Life” and I really hope I did the legend justice with this mix…I also included a special nod to@kooldjredalert but we haven’t finished just yet and there will be a second part very soon.”
RIP DJ Mark The 45 King
