Don Carrera Delivers “Import./” (Album)

Don Carrera merges soulful samples with raw industrialized soundscapes on his new instrumental opus “Import./” The Fayette, Mississippi production phenomenon’s workload has been increasingly busy the past few years. Major contributions to tracks from Mak P & Ankhlejohn(among others)kept his visibility at an all-time high…but it’s refreshing to see him cut loose once again on a project solely his own.

The platter contains stripped down arrangements that conjure visions of a busy day at your local automotive factory. The twist here is that it’s the funkiest factory in town! Imagine Quincy Jones & Dr. Dre quitting their day jobs to do blue collar work & you get an idea of what Don’s heatin’ up.

The self-described Audio Painter takes listeners on a journey of emotional highs & lows. For every meditative gem like “345i” you’ll find a melodic sonic detour such as “6speed.” “JDM” will have you marching through memory lane before you take the “last lap” of this joyous excursion. It all leads up to the “finish line” but the excitement doesn’t have to end. Don delivers 15 tracks of continuous heat so replay it again & again!
