When a master lyricist & production genius join forces they can do the impossible. But once the unattainable is achieved the next question is, “Can they do it again?” GeneralBackPain & Flu were faced with that very predicament after receiving raves for 2019’s revolutionary “Bovine” platter. In fact, they’d be hard-pressed to conjure that same kind of magic again. Well, let us be the first to say there’s no sophomore jinx in sight(or sound!!!)for their next adventure. “Bovine Too” may share a title with its predecessor but this project firmly stands on its own!
The opus unfolds on a dark, enigmatic note and is instantly energized with GeneralBackPain’s “boisterous bars!” “Charcutterie Too” feels like the beginning of a long, winding excursion & we’re more than willing to be passengers for the ride! The next joint is “Zebu’s Theme” which explodes into action with a mad cow on the loose! GBP trudges across the macabre terrain with purpose & becomes increasingly more impassioned with every breath. “Cash Cow” contains a haunting backdrop that fuels The Home Team Hero to greatness on the mic. He swerves around the spirited instrumentation and delivers a major win as we cheer him on from the rafters! “Assaulted Steak” finds the mic commando cookin’ up the competition over a sizzling soundscape of prime rib production while the Killy Shoot & All Hail Y.T. featured “Dark Aged” is a down tempo display of dope rhyme styles that sets up a scene-stealing turn for the latter mic warrior!
Lupus Dei provides the perfect sparring partner for the Punchline Underboss on stellar audio heat called “Accoutrements!” The once & future(?)iKing underground assassins attack Flu’s otherworldly track with the utmost conviction and show all wannabe rappers how to get the job done! “Tenderloins” showcases The General giving those very same MCs encouragement as he proceeds to celebrate all the starving artists struggling to break through. But don’t get it twisted! The Inglewood Avenger hasn’t gotten soft on us. That message is clear on “Beef Season” when our mic champ shifts into battle mode over hardcore beats and soulful scatting that highlight the carefree nature GBP possesses when beatin’ down his rivals! “Halal Wrist” concludes the journey by literally laughing in the face of the opposition. Now ANOTHER question is raised. When are we getting Part Three?
