What can I say about godPawn other than they are a unique band. Not unique in the gimmicky way but, unique in the sense that they are about to do something major in the music biz. They flawlessly combine an amalgam of music genres mainly two of my favorites, Hip Hop and Metal. Although this method is not new in our generation of music, many bands are unsuccessful in putting out a solid product.

Godpawn consists of 3 members; Mulligan, Sir William and JC. All of them able to handle multiple duties as emcees and producers.

The opening track “Nothing To Me” is nothing short of pure aggression from the mechanically based beat to the razor blade rhymes spit by Mulligan like:

“I see you flexing huffing and puffing all up on my set,

You’re talking shit doing nothing but spreading your bad breath,

I’m chipping away at your ego,

Everyday as you’re made of placebo,

See those fake as fucks and let ‘em know,

YOU’RE NOTHING TO ME!!!”

Right off the bat you get hit with an ILL bass line on the track “Haven’t Combed My Hair”. Lyrically Mulligan starts a revolution against our government and their ridiculous tactics. Along with the addictive bass line, it’s followed by a spacey yet mellow backdrop; A perfect recipe for Mulligan to feast on. Things get a little unconventional on one of my favorites “Blackfinger”. On this song, you get elements of both the Heavy Metal and Noise genres thus, allowing different types of listeners to tune in. Suicide is the topic expressed on “While You’re Sleeping”. It delves into the mind of an individual contemplating taking their own life. This track deals with more introspective lyrics than a lesson in taking ones life. Another Metal based track is the sick “Tivo My Ebay” where the sonic sound and Mulligan’s concrete words effortlessly fit together perfectly. Emcee Delusional impressively lends a hand on the laid back banger “Kamikaze Confidence” with one of the illest lines on this LP:

“It’s me and my team and we stick together like Cobra and the Baroness!”

He then appears again on the weed induced anthem “FUCR”. Delusional definitely has mic skills and makes you wish that he and Mulligan would have traded more verses on this album. Hopefully they do more of this in further projects.

Other notable tracks are “Breaking the Curse”, and the incredible “Persevere”. As I stated earlier, there are many different influences heard and meshed together. And where other bands/groups have failed, godPawn somehow managed to push through an impressive product for all to enjoy. Sixteen tracks of pure madness for your listening pleasure. All this preceded by a vocal sample screaming, “I got something to say!” Listen up, GODPAWN ARE HERE!!!
