Chuck D has spent a lifetime imparting knowledge and sparking empowerment through his music, actions and public speaking. The booming voice behind the iconic and groundbreaking Hip Hop group Public Enemy fueled so many impactful songs with powerful lyrics infused with societal messages that have incited and excited people of all walks. Three decades later, Chuck D is still an innovator whose voice commands attention. Over recent years, he’s also served as a member of the super-group Prophets of Rage. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductee and music industry innovating trailblazer adds yet another huge accolade to his long list of milestones. On November 16th, he will be awarded the 2019 Woody Guthrie Prize in Tulsa, OK. The coveted award honors those in media and the arts who provide a voice for the voiceless.
