Washington Heights, NY production duo IamT2 released their official self titled debut album. This is a full length collaborative project with a knockout roster that includes Heist Life Crew (Sauce Heist, Ty Da Dale, and Baby Maine), Fastlife, Madhattan, El Camino, Lord Juco, Scott G, Sleep Sinatra, Bub Rock, Sully Nomad, Rim Da Villin, Eddie Kaine, K.Burns, Rome Streetz and Jay Royale. We get a well rounded sound with these top upcoming and current artists from different parts of the east coast over some amazing production. The release was entirely produced by IamT2, mixed by Frado, and executive produced by Trevor Lang who was also in charge of the creative cover artwork. Many of the soundscapes are reminiscent of the 90’s Boom Bap sound but with some modern elements incorporated to give it a refreshing twist.
From these features, I’m most familiar with Rome Streetz and Jay Royale, who have the most prominent 90’s influences in their bodies of work. When listening to them you can hear inspiration drawn from the likes of Big L, Nas, Ghostface Killah, and Raekwon to name a few. You can also feel the inspiration of the Wu Tang Clan on the track “‘92 Wu” from the Heist Life crew. Other notable joints for me was “Day Of The Dead”, “Prestige”, “Golden Quotes”, “Lo Quiero Todo” and “Blue Glass.” With this being a debut, IamT2 knew the lane they were going for and it worked.
