Insomniac Magazine’s Weekly Hip Hop Top Ten: Don’t Sleep On These New Releases

Insomniac Magazine hits you with another week of Top Ten gems! Check out the list below & salute the underground!

1) V DON x WILLIE THE KID take over the top spot by delivering a “Deutsche Marks” delight for fans called “Bleacher Report!” Powered by a sinister bass line, compelling military march meets boom bap beat, and a barrage of lyrical artillery aimed straight for your dome, the cut serves as a reminder that these two power players got the game on lock!

2) The forthcoming motion picture, “Baby Driver,” threw film audiences into a frenzy when it screened at SXSW…and it’ll probably have the same effect on music lovers when the soundtrack drops for the masses. One example of what we can expect is represented by a DANGER MOUSE selection featuring RUN THE JEWELS & BIG BOI called “Chase Me.” The adrenaline fueled banger contains high-energy lyrics & production that will make you hop in the ride & steer yourself into an action-packed adventure. Step on the gas & PRESS PLAY!

3) THE DOPPELGANGAZ don’t stop with the “Dopp Hopp”…and that’s fine with us because their new album BANGER, “Olympics,” had us so excited we ran laps around the office like we were competing in a marathon!!! Matter OV Fact & EP attack the track with the ferocity of a hungry Havoc & Prodigy during classic sessions of “The Infamous!” This is underground Hip Hop in its finest hour! Respect the lyricism & nod your head to the stellar Boom Bap!!!

4) G.FISHER delivers one of his best tracks to date as he teams up with HADDY RACKS to break down the barriers dividing the old & new generation on “OG’s!” The Music Mystro laced masterpiece allows both emcees to make valid points to their argument without foregoing the boom bap! No preachiness here…just dope beats & rhymes. Enterprize Entertainment chalks up another win!

5) DIRTYDIGGS x SUPREME CEREBRAL serve up red-hot “White Label” heat on a sonic gem so hard-hitting it’ll “smack teeth out your gums!” “Supreme Paradise” is the perfect combo of lush grooves & raw rhymes. It’s the Porterhouse steak to your weak ass filet. These kings sport silk robes while you walk the earth in rags!

6) PANIK & NAVARRO are “Coloring Outside The Lines” as they destroy all opposition on the power banger, “Respect It!” The speaker-shattering audio triumph finds Navarro performing lyrical acrobatics over Panik’s Molemen approved soundscape as underground heads listen in awe! Feel the heat & pump up the volume!

7) Super producer, Paragone, assembled together LEECH with BRONZE NAZARETH & TIMBO KING for a stellar cut from his “Eastern Society” compilation album titled “Magnolia!” Bronze Nazareth does the behind the boards honors on the track as a floodgate of next level lyrics pour freely into the universe. Connect with the gods and enter the cosmic arena!

8) LIL ETO & GRAND SURGEON put y’all up on that “BK TO ROC SLANG” as they drop jewels over LG Roc’s soulful soundscape. Tales from the corner are brought to life with colorful descriptions from two of the underground’s top street reporters in the game. Keep hustlin’ and check the sounds!

9) BigBob unleashes TONY GORE, ST.LAZ, DADDIE NOTCH, SKANKS THE RAP MARTYR & MIC HANDZ on his Wu-Tang inspired banger, “Samurai Killa!” The 5 deadly venoms release a torrent of lyrical fury over the powerful track that showcases their diverse styles & creativity. When the mic assassins enter the booth all other emcees retreat to the corner. Hip Hop is on full display. The bloodbath has begun!

10) DIZZY WRIGHT figures s**t out & gets a few things off his chest on the Alex Lustig laced masterwork, “Word On The Streetz.” Powerful content & energetic flows merge with a BEAST of a production that sounds like a victory march toward Hip Hop supremacy. Dizzy & Alex achieve greatness in under 3 minutes. Word On the Streetz is that the song’s a hit!
