Insomniac Magazine’s Weekly Hip Hop Top Ten 1/2/23

Don’t Sleep On These New Releases

Insomniac Magazine rings in the New Year with the first Weekly Top Ten of ’23! Gear up for action & tap in below!!!

1) SPODA led his team to the championship in the “4th Quarter Finale” with a BLUNTED SLOTH laced triumph called “Clap For Me!!!” The lyrical quarterback hones in on the sonic heat and gets down to business(which translates to an onslaught of savage bars for the underground)! Don’t stand in the way of Mr. DopeFlow when he blesses the mic. All competition cease to exist when Spoda enters the room!!!

2) HIM LO & WINO WILLY get in a few “Sparrin Sessionz” while knockin’ off every opponent on the underground! The lyrical pugilist & prize-fighting producer take jabs at all the weak ass artists who crossed their path and punch their lights out with a lightning-speed technique. This is just the beginning with more to come. Ya morons better scream “no mas” before you’re face down on the canvas!!!

3) KAIL PROBLEMS & BODYBAGBEN keep suckers “On The Run” while clearly “Understanding” what it takes to capture the listeners’ attention!!! A MASSIVE beat sprinkled with glorious piano samples propels the treacherous two into uncharted territory. But it takes no time for them to quickly learn to navigate! Head spinning lyrics assault your senses then rip the whole recording booth asunder!!!

4) There’s no dancing around the fact that LORD JUCO & BOHEMIA LYNCH’s “Shadows 5” platter was a hit straight out the gate!!! On the HWY 308 featured gem “Pirouette,” we’re given a glimpse of the EP’s impact via a jazzy arrangement that the deadly duo ride to ever-escalating heights! If ya ain’t got space for the old ways that’s okay. Cause Lord Juco’s droppin’ heat on the streets today!

5) It’s a Death Match to the finish as RU$H & JAY NICE go tag team on dat ass with “Dior Vs Givenchy!!!” The SESSION 600 laced “Famili 4” sizzler sounds like it’s all-out war…an’ ya best believe the deadly duo are about to to wreck the set!! This joint’s direct, to the point, and effective as a muhf**ka! Ru$h, Jay, and Sesh are a serious triple threat!!!

6) CRIMEAPPLE “be where they never heard’a you!” But that’s what we’ve come to expect from the lyrical journeyman! On the BUCK DUDLEY crafted gem “Gothic Quarter Jazz Bar,” Crime skates across jazz-fueled steez from the heavens above before givin’ ’em hell in the booth! Get your sticky hands off his thousand dollar pea coat. Take a sec to settle down then go ahead & PRESS PLAY!!!

7) DJ RADIOHEAD enlists mic assassins LORD JUCO & PRO ZAY for his “Stoplight” showstopper mixed by TIMEPIECE! The melancholy musical arrangement spurs the lyricists to spit from the heart with revelatory rhymes that light up the track! Life can move so fast it can be hard to slow down. But take a minute of your time to stop & breathe!!!

8) It was a no-brainer to dip back into A.P. DA OVERLORD & UNCLE FESTER’s incredible “GRIM NIGHT” project for a second week in a row! On “Shortcake,” a dope lyricist named TYRNT kicks things off with a star turn on the mic that energizes the sonic proceedings! A.P. then jumps in with his sure & steady flow as the ethereal track leads us into ecstasy!!!

9) HORIZON & FUNKGHOST rose up through the ranks to become global sensations on the SOULHOP laced “Shine Beyond Remix!” Powered by confident, aspirational lyrics & stellar production, the track serves as a motivational tool for anyone caught up in the struggle! Discipline your mind and body then outwork all those around you. Let ’em watch you shine beyond anything they could’ve ever imagined!!!

10) We’ve kept MIKE TITAN & ZCIENCE DIVISION’s “Ghost Warriors” opus on REPEAT…and in particular, a G FAM BLACK featured gem called “The Master!” Space-Age sonic action is perfectly complemented by Mike’s silky smooth flow & G Fam’s bloodthirsty bar attack on the opposition! When they say, “who’s the master?” y’all better say Mike & G Fam or you’ll end up lookin’ stupid when they spit on your grave!!!

Well that’s it for this week. Catch ya next time and…DON’T SLEEP!
