Insomniac Magazine’s Weekly Hip Hop Top Ten 1/27/20

Don’t Sleep On These New Hip Hop Releases

Insomniac Magazine hits ya with a collection of immaculate street heaters to keep on repeat all week! Get yourself in gear. It’s time for the Weekly Top Ten!

1) MAVERICK MONTANA x ROME STREETZ team up for a dope track on a stellar sonic opus titled “For Juco.” The project is dedicated to the continued recovery of one of the underground’s most heralded lyricists (Lord Juco)& it rocks the set on a seismic level. The FARMA produced “No Good” finds MAV & Rome relaying graphic street tales over a soulful, downbeat soundscape of destruction. Whenever it seems like the whole world is falling down on you play this explosive joint & you’ll instantly feel better!

2) ASUN EASTWOOD X VAGO bring you a raw, uncut banger featuring PRIMO PROFIT x DANIEL SON! “Street Lights” drums up the drama & puts us smack dab in the middle of the action. Vago amps up the sonic intensity while the lyrical gods paint broad strokes of underground artistry on a concrete canvas. You may not need the street lights to see where you’re going but beware things that go bump in the night.

3) CHE NOIR smacks the s**t out of another dope ass 38 SPESH produced track & brings heavy hitters PLANET ASIA x STREET JUSTICE along for a heat blast called “Crown!” The “Juno” master gem showcases the virtuosity of three MCs finessing the mic in a manner that will make lesser lyricists drop to their knees. Call this a smash hit & we’ll double down on the statement. All hail the mighty triumvirate of power spitters. They share the crown & no one’s more deserving.

4) DANIEL SON x FASTLIFE take us to “French Qtrz” for DREDI laced sonic excitement from the “For Juco” project! The Brown Bag Money bar slinger plays no games when it comes to rippin’ the mic! He’ll desecrate your cherished career with disrespectful bars then bring in FastLife to stomp you out of existence! Dredi sits back & enjoys the show as he ratchets up the rhythms for your burial.

5) LISAAN’DRO flaunts his slick rhyme flow & takes full advantage of a supreme SHARP. soundscape on a new power heater called “Sly & Robbie!” Dro is in complete command of the ominous track as he takes possession of the beat & wills it to do his bidding. The rhyme schemes he exhibits wrap around your cerebral cortex & force you to listen. This is Hip Hop at its finest! If you don’t like what ya heard you’re a d**khead, plain & simple.

6) KILLY SHOOT amps up the underground with a bouncy soul banger from THATBLESSEDGIRL called “Truck Jewels ’88!” On this high-powered heater, the #hometeam hero takes us back in time to show what led to his fascination for the “shine.” Dookie rope chains were all the rage in the 80’s & when your favorite MCs were sportin’ em it was easy to see the allure. The weight of the chains was like an anchor on your neck & to afford ’em plenty of weight was being moved.

7)If you find snakes in your circle you better cut ’em off at the head! JAMIL HONESTY x HOBGOBLIN team up with MAV & PURE for a slithery sonic sizzler called “Reptiles.” Over archaic rhythms with a boom bap backdrop, the trio of lyricists relay torrid tales of treachery & what action to take when faced with betrayal. This is that “Martyr Musik 2” s**t ya need in your life. Take heed to the message & keep your eyes open!

8) V DON x ETO introduce listeners to their upcoming “Black Mass” project with a title track that’s composed of dense bars & reflective conversation. V Don fills the production with sinister undertones that make you feel as though Eto is about to snap at any moment. Surprisingly, he keeps his composure…even when snuffin’ your lights out!

9) STOOP REBEL MURDA breaks the seal on the Top 10 with a RETROSPEC powered heater called “Hellz Angel!” The rising rhyme renegade plants his feet firmly on the ground in 2020 and fires off a warning shot! From this moment on all rivals need to step off & respect the skills. This track proves Stoop can lead the race & by year’s end he’ll be runnin’ the game!

10) Two legends cap off the countdown with a BOO KOWSKI laced banger comprised of powerful content & production. The U.M.C’s KOOL KIM(aka NYOIL) & Jurassic 5’s AKIL THE MC unite to deliver a barrage of top level bars on a supreme gem called “Children Of The Sun!” Courage, determination and an unflinching sense of self-worth are what’s needed to survive society’s land mines if you’re Black or any other person of color. Know your true value & don’t allow any disrespect. Stand strong & fight the fight until the final hour!

Well that’s it for this week. Catch ya next time and…DON’T SLEEP!
