Don’t Sleep On These New Hip Hop Releases
Insomniac Magazine returns with a pulse-pounding edition of the Hip Hop countdown you’ve been clamoring for! There was so much HEAT flooding our office this week that the fire department threatened to shut us down! Out of the ashes emerges a chart that will restore your faith in the underground and all the surprises it has to offer. Get yourself in gear and feast your eyes on the Weekly Top 10!
1) COUSIN FEO x LORD JUCO kick off an intercontinental adventure with the Hobgoblin powered banger “Turkish Empires!” Dedicated to the deadliest derby matches worldwide, the high-powered joint is the lead off heater for a monthly collaboration series (“Death At The Derby”) that promises to shake up the underground! Both emcees THROW DOWN on the mic and rip into Hobgoblin´s relentlessly funky soundscape with professional aplomb! Witness the champions at play but don’t try to test ’em. You’ll never keep up. They´re in a league of their own!
2) IKING wreak havoc throughout the underground on a Kheyzine powered sonic behemoth titled “The 10 Gauge Ballad!” GENERALBACKPAIN & LUPUS DEI are two of the dopest & hungriest emcees on the planet! Combine their lyrical finesse with Kheyzine’s otherworldly production and you get sonic supremacy of the highest order!
3) BROWN BAG MONEY x DA CLOTH is a Hip Hop head’s dream collabo transformed into reality! The Futurewave laced “Carnation Milk” is our first taste of what´s to come & after one sip we’ll NEVER go back to those other brands again! DANIEL SON, RIGZ, SAIPHER SOZE & MOOCH are all killin’ the game right now and after hearing this we know they’ll be doing it forever! Futurewave supplies the fuel they need to get the job done and now we’ve got enough Vitamin D to last us thru the next century!
4) SPECTACULAR DIAGNOSTICS delivers a DAPZINI, BLKWLF & CHRIS CRNZA featured “Raw Studies” bonus Banger called “Ballentine Blvd” that slays anything y’all wannabe emcees and producers could even THINK of putting out! Listen to that production. Who’s touching Spec right now? You hear those crickets? Yeah, we thought so! Add three psychotic lyrical demons to the mix like Dap, Blk, and Chris and you know other artists might as well just retire.
5) BENNY THE BUTCHER x GRAFH “Blow” listeners away with a DJ Shay laced monster cut that gave us a neck injury from all the head nodding this joint induced! To be honest, Benny was featured on so much heat this week that we could´ve done an entire countdown on him alone…but since we had to narrow things down this was our selection. Benny’s rewind worthy lines (“We let off biscuits/the ballistics come clean up the shells/We made choices and had to pay lawyers to even the scale”) make the track a MUST listen while Grafh’s grimy flow brings it all home!
6) HEEM STOGIED x J-SCIENIDE are sippin’ gin and getting it in on the BOZACK MORRIS crafted heater “Wins!” Bold, brash, and brilliant in both execution and delivery, the mic wreckas bring their passion and skills to one of Bozack’s finest productions (the man has an endless amount of dopeness, so that’s saying a lot)! If you’re a winner, you’ll be checking this out. If you’re on the other side of the spectrum, we wish you luck.
7) BUB ROCK, TY FARRIS, CODENINE & ROME STREETZ provide the main event for the Finn laced crown jewel “Dunk Contest ’88!” The starting lineup for this all-star event remains unmatched. You have the top contenders for the Hip Hop throne duking it out on the court for a Championship ring that could bring wealth, prosperity, and a sxxt load of respect! All the players shine but Rome Streetz murdered it with this line – “Life’s a bitch/I stick stiff dxxk in/fxxk the world till she drip riches/kill the pxxxy I’m Sid Vicious!” WOOOOO! Now that’s how you win the game!
8) IAMT2 enlists RIM, EDDIE KAINE & K.BURNS for an unstoppable powerhouse banger that places them so far ahead of the pack they have “No Comp!” The track could’ve easily been titled “we’re the best emcees on the planet” because the confidence they exude is telegraphed across the universe. Beats and Rhymes are so on point they could poke your eye out! These spitters are sick wit’ it! “Like the side of Jermaine Jackson’s hair they’re maaad slick!”
9) CHUCK N LOCK keep the negatives at bay while dropping a positively powerful heater titled “Rolling Thunder!” The NCL-TM produced masterwork is a solid slice of sonic craftsmanship that answers the question of what an espionage thriller would be like if it were directed by DJ Premier. The diabolical duo have the peasants & pissants doing penance for doubting their abilities. Chuck N Lock reign supreme while the buzzards pick apart their enemies!
10) It’s BANGER ALERT time as we send you off with an insanely dope joint you’ll be keeping on REWIND all week! LEE RICKS x BIGBOB’s LDONTHECUT featured heater “Life’s A Bitch” had us smashing office desks with sledgehammers and putting co-workers in headlocks! The joint had us that AMPED!!! Lee perfectly cascades around BigBob’s phenomenally ominous soundscape while LDonTheCut spices things up on the 1 and 2’s. Life might be a bitch but this track is one SICK mutha!!!
