Insomniac Magazine’s Weekly Hip Hop Top Ten 1/4/21

Don’t Sleep On These New Releases

It’s a New Year which means you get a brand new edition of Insomniac Magazine’s Weekly Top Ten! Toss your 2020 troubles in the trash & check out the list below!

1) POUNDS kicks off 2021 in peak form with a “Die Enormous” banger featuring supreme spitters FLEE LORD x 448 BRAD! On the TEYO powered explosive “Connected,” fans can bear witness to three masters of the game bodying the set with reckless abandon! The underground stays boiling over with a surplus of heat & the Rochester mic wrecka’s always at the center of the action!

2) MILANO CONSTANTINE & BODYBAGBEN’s entire “Write It In Blood” project is worthy of a slot on the Weekly Top Ten! But since we could only choose one cut for the countdown, honors were bestowed to the banger “Hell Or High Water!” There was something about the dusty boom bap sound & savage lyrical assault that delivered the sonic goods we were looking for! Milano & Ben have a certified classic on their hands. They stay on their grind & never stop winning!

3) Y’all don’t like CRIMEAPPLE? Cool, cause he don’t give a ****!!! Just sit there sulking with your “Resting B***h Face” and let his success eat you up inside! BUCK DUDLEY is behind the boards for this “Matalos Con Mas Exitos” experience which showcases the Manteca mic god’s salty charm & bravado. Count the number of things you hate about his attitude, style, and delivery & he’ll just laugh at you as he’s counting his dough!

4) RASHEED CHAPPELL, RECKONIZE REAL & THE MUSALINI celebrate by raising a “Glass In The Air” to toast their copious achievements! This track is the ideal representation of how an artist feels upon cashing in on the fruits of his labor. The women, the money, the lavish vacations…It’s an electric rush that can’t be denied! Live vicariously through the ultra-talented trio & mark 2021 as the year all your dreams come true!

5) ASUN EASTWOOD x WIZDOME BUNITALL combined forces for a soulful power platter called “Let Me Talk My Sh*t” that completely blew us away! The bearded warrior-king of the booth OWNS every understated soundscape he appears on which is why Wizdome makes for such a great collaborator. The rising producer manifests the most mellow grooves & merges them with a show-stopping boom bap foundation. “Therapy” perfectly exemplifies this aesthetic with a reflective tour de force performance. Lyrically & sonically, it’s miles ahead of the rest!

6) NORM REGULAR x MAK-P blast ya into 2022 with a Baltimore bar assault on the “Describe Infinity” banger “Weeble!” This is that colossal corner-boy ish ya need embodied by a full-range of lyrical depth & aggression! Norm & Mak are heavyweights of this underground scene so expect sturdy bars by the dozen! Weebles wobble in terms of the competition but these Maryland mic mavericks don’t fall down!

7) AGALLAH’s “2021” project is dope enough as it is…but then he returned last minute to add two more tracks!!! Good thing he did cause his last minute addition of “25 Mil” toppled over someone else’s Top 10 dreams & put The Don Bishop in his rightful position of dominance! If you haven’t received the hint that it’s Agallah’s year this joint serves as a warning shot of what’s to come. Stand back & watch young’uns. Give the man room & let him do his thing!

8 MASTA CONGA x JINNAHCIDE enter the countdown with a BEAST of a track! “Unbearable” erupts from the speakers in a full-on rage, immediately triggering a worldwide wave of sheer terror! Jinnahcide tears into the sonic scenery and pushes his gruff vocals to the breaking point. It’s a spectacular showcase of Hip Hop. PURE. RAW. & UNTAMED!

9) JOE SIG makes an impressive debut on the countdown with the INTIFADA BEATS produced gem “COUNT’N HUNNEDS!” The ascendant mic ripper expertly puts the pieces in place for his “Scar Of Life” project by meticulously crafting brash bars of supremacy & hand-delivering them to a legion of underground fans. Intifada Beats cooks up a soulful stew of sonic steez in the pot then lets it simmer underneath Sig’s incendiary rhymes!

10) DON THE JEWELER reps Team Frozen to the fullest with a dope interplanetary funk/soul/boom bap concoction called “Don Galactica!” This is one of those heavy head nod gems you play at full blast while cruising ’round town in the ride. Slick rhymes on the mic transport listeners to a place far away from this Covid-infested planet. Sky’s no longer the limit. In 2021 it’s the galaxy!!!

Well that’s it for this week. Catch ya next time and…DON’T SLEEP!
