Don’t Sleep On These New Hip Hop Releases
This was one of the weeks we both loved & hated. Why? Because there was too much dope s**t to put on the countdown!!! Keep your eyes open for plenty of spillover into the next list but for now tap into the brand new edition of Insomniac’s Hip Hop Top Ten!
1) BODY BAG BEN & J SCIENIDE “Set The Stage” for sonic excitement with an ill “Enough To Plague A Saint” sizzler featuring ROME STREETZ! The piano-laden power gem conjures images of a prohibition era speakeasy shaken to its core by time-traveling B-Boys from a distant land far, far away! “Some people try to get you all up out your element” but anyplace J & Rome lay their mic down is their home!!! The supreme lyricists serve up high voltage lyrical heat as Ben brings to light the best beats & scratches in the biz!!!
2) CONWAY THE MACHINE & THE ALCHEMIST…need we say more? Whenever these two get together it’s gonna be trouble…GOOD trouble! “Piano Love” finds the GxFR mic god waxing poetic over sprawling keys that add to his lavish display of raw lyricism. Conway might murder you in the middle of kickin’ a rhyme but at least you’ll die with a smile on your face.
3) EDDIE KAINE showcases impressive range and unyielding passion on BIG GHOST crafted audio opulence titled “East Flatbush!” The “A Tree Grows In Brooklyn” underground banger highlights the supreme spitter at the peak of his lyrical powers. Instead of simply bragging about himself, Eddie flexes unique flows & cadences to express his artistic talent. If you weren’t checkin’ for him before you DEFINITELY will be after this dope project. You should’ve known he had the goods. Big Ghost only works with the greatest!
4) BRONZE NAZARETH, ROC MARCIANO & KILLAH PRIEST bring a fresh slice of “Ekphrasis” energy to the underground on “Papayas ’21!” The magnetic mic titans conquer the sonic terrain by spraying the set with a barrage of incendiary verses that explode on impact! Get set for a triple threat of certified heat! It all begins when ya tap in below!
5) DEEPLY ROOTED HIPHOP is known for tirelessly delivering top notch coverage of all the latest heat on the underground. After the release of a brand new compilation they will be known as the chief supplier of that heat as well. This project gave us a mix of euphoria AND agony because EVERY track is a Top 10 single in its own right. It’s obvious we’ll have to revisit it for more dope joints in the weeks to come but our first pick is the RECOGNIZE ALI & MAV featured mega banger “Riots!” E.L.E.M.N.T. is behind the boards for the “Sleeping Giants(Awaken)” sizzler & he ramps up the audio action to provide a sonic springboard for the mic assassins to launch their lyrical attack! There’s an uprising in your area & we can trace it’s origins back to this phenomenal cut!
6) What’s located in “Chamber 31?!?” New “Oxtail” excitement by JAMAL GASOL & DEUCE ELLIS!!! The Diadora Don glides over Deuce’s ethereal instrumentation and expertly delivers dope rhymes while dissing the opposition! “Tom Brady under pressure” returns to collect another championship ring. With Deuce Ellis on his side there’s no way he can lose!
7) BODY BAG BEN hits listeners with superior beats AND rhymes as he joins J SCIENIDE & lyrical warrior WORDSWORTH for a deadly display of sonic destruction called “Double Dragon!” The Far East inspired frenzy of first-rate action boasts three underground phenomenons flexing HEAVY in the booth! It’s Hip Hop at its finest. They spit nothing but FIRE on the track!
8) There have been many “Reports” about DARK LO & HAVOC but the most important one is that their new project is dope! On “Extreme Measures” heat guaranteed to send shockwaves throughout your neighborhood the OBH mic heavyweight rips into the Mobb Deep maverick’s savage soundscape with reckless abandon! 9) VINCENT THE OWL & LOU FROM PARADISE infest the underground with “Termites” and we’re keeping them around for the duration! The MOSSYBEATS laced heat rock serves up playful, high-powered rhymes and a funky, head nod beat that propels the action forward. No pesticide required for this joint! We’ve got this on rotation all day long!
10) VLXL & ASUN EASTWOOD close out the countdown with new “St. Ide’s At Bayside” steez called “Gotham Manners!” If you wanna hear trash rappers you turn on the radio but when y’all want that fly s**t you come to the underground. This joint is a prime example of why, as the colossal collaborators combine forces to bumrush the studio & give it their all! There’s no excuses for not listening so gather your thoughts & get wit’ it!
