Insomniac Magazine’s Weekly Hip Hop Top Ten 10/16/23

Don’t Sleep On These New Releases

Insomniac Magazine floods the street with an endless supply of audio heat! Gear up & win! It’s time for the Weekly Top Ten!!!

1) FRANKKY SMACCZ slaps the mic right outta the hands of you mental midgets with EDDIE KAINE & RIM backin’ him up to stomp yo’ ass outta existence!!! “Raise The Bar 2” is the type of joint we pray for & GOTDAMN these MCS delivered!!! PROFFENY & Smaccz jammed their foot, arm & torso all the way in this ill “Crowned 2: I Just Came To Rap” production…so talk to their PayPal & put your money where your mouth is!!!

2) It’s time for “The Return” of REAL Hip Hop with LIVING LEGENDS & DEL THE FUNKEE HOMOSAPIEN demonstrating how it’s done over sonic heat from STATIK SELEKTAH!!! As soon as the beat kicks in ya know you’re in for a next level experience as the ill lyricists complement the stellar soundscape with mind-blowin’ mic dominance!!! While all these rap wannabes are out pimpin’ hos & bitches, this crew is turning out the world with a surplus of skills!!!

3) VINNIE PAZ strikes back with more than a lyrical assault. He’s hittin’ ya wit’ a “2000 Shot Barrage!!!” C LANCE heats s**t up via a futuristic, Kraftwerk-like arrangement while Boxcut Pazzy bids you goodnight with a metal pipe!!! It’s The Return Of Hell’s Messenger with death arriving at your door upon delivery!!!

4) On “And Then You Pray For Me,” WESTSIDE GUNN experiments with Trap…but of course, WE focus on the Boom Bap with “Mamas PrimeTime!” The FlyGod & CONWAY THE MACHINE are known for show-stopping lyricism on joints like these but it’s the ever versatile JID who gets the gold medal for runnin’ laps around any competition on the track! CARTIER A. WILLIAMS ends the audio affair by tap-dancing us into sonic nirvana while production champions MR GREEN & BEAT BUTCHA deservedly take a bow!

5) YOU may not know who you are but ASUN EASTWOOD & IM’PERETIV are fully aware of their limitless abilities on the “I AM THAT I AM” heater “Health It Costs!” To add to the abundance of audio excellence, MAV & TY FARRIS drop supreme verses while DYSTRAKTED brings a melange of mix magic to the 1 & 2’s! Tracks like these might fuel an opponent’s thirst for battle. But rivals should sit this one out. Don’t let your ego lead you to ruin. It could cost you your health!

6) CONDUCTOR WILLIAMS infamous tag is the trigger that unleashes a Sarmat ICBM missile that takes on the form of ROME STREETZ!!! On “The Revenge Of Flips Leg,” the destructive force of nature bombs everything in its path before giving glory to God and connectin’ wit’ WESTSIDE GUNN for the re-up!!! When the acid rain of ill lyricism pours down your brain there will be no forgiveness! Shut the door, close the shutters, “And Then You Pray For Me.” No saving grace for the suckers. All hope is lost!

7) DARK LO takes a jazz-fueled NICHOLAS CRAVEN laced groove(obviously given to him straight from The Hand of God)and makes anyone who bet against him instantly pay up on “Rent Due!” The controversial mic king is in top form, so aptly demonstrated by the inventive manner in which he completely merges with the beat! A house ain’t a home unless this track is playing. The opposition just received notice that they’ve been evicted!

8) What, y’all thought The Frog Brothers were all washed up? F**K NO!!! BOBBY CRAVES & FAZEONEROK shift from their CERTAIN.ONES personas to unleash a legion of Lost Boys on “Jerkin!” The MONTEGA MATEOS laced mega gem will force weak lyricists to leap back to their lily pads and work on their craft! Inherit the spirit of Syd Barrett. Stay comfortably numb & PRESS PLAY!!!

9) EDDIE KAINE x BP need “No Permission” to body the set as they link up with RIM for a “House Of Kaine” banger! Presented in full cinematic glory by the good people at PAPERCHASER, these underground champions cast aside the weak to stay strong in the face of all opposition! Dope lyricism & production are a warning shot for more heat to come on the upcoming opus! Get your fix now & tap in!!!

10) We ride out with MAV & PETE TWIST on a chilling “Long Story Short” sizzler called “Go!” The sinister set piece conjured by the mind of the mic mercenary is one of danger and despair. But the devil in the details informs us MAV has seen everything he speaks of…and survived! Pete laces the atmosphere with an ominous arrangement that will give you nightmares all month long. It’s a track that will be etched in your memory & possibly haunt you ’til the end of time!

Well that’s it for this week. Catch ya next time and…DON’T SLEEP!
