Don’t Sleep On These New Hip Hop Releases
Insomniac Magazine touches down with a brand new countdown! There was so much heat the past 7 days that we expect it to spill over into next week’s list! Check out what the authentic Hip Hop’s got in store for you, and always respect the skills!
1)RECOGNIZE ALI, NAPOLEON DA LEGEND & SHABAAM SAHDEEQ ‘carve their name in history until the end of time’ on a Tone Spliff produced banger called “Masterbuilders!” The prolific power trifecta get primed for battle by constructing an arsenal of deadly rhymes designed to annihilate all opposition. When they launch an attack the full force of their lyrical fury reverberates throughout the underground. Why settle for lesser emcees when you can listen to the masters?
2) ALCHEMIST likes s**t gritty…REAL gritty!!! So who better to enlist for a track than SCHOOLBOY Q & GxFR’s grime lords CONWAY & WESTSIDEGUNN! The soundscape for “Fork In The Pot” will make you feel like you were sucked into some kind of ill “WildStyle” “Beat Street” motion picture hybrid! But instead of Ramo gettin’ fried by the third rail, he’s pulled out just in the nick of time only to get stomped out by Griselda’s finest! Yeah, it’s that kind’a song. And we loved every minute!
3) O.C. & PF CUTTIN supply another addictive “Opium” heater called “Sit Yourself Down!” On this particular cut, the legendary D.I.T.C. lyricist details exactly what it takes to be an emcee. If you fall short of any of the requirements you better sign up for a UPS job instead. Don’t even THINK about picking up the mic again. This game ain’t for the weak of heart.
4) J SCIENIDE brings his trademark brand of lyrical excellence to the Yashmall Allah laced banger “Sun Thin!” The powerful track comes crashing through like a battering ram…but J calmly reins it in then hurls it back to the listeners with a heavy garnishing of grade A rhymes to be appreciated & absorbed! Play this heater loud & feel its full intensity all week long!
5) APOLLO BROWN & JOELL ORTIZ prove they’re the perfect producer/emcee combo with the “Mona Lisa” heater “Cocaine Fingertips!” Over a carefully crafted construction of understated sonic power, Joell spits the type of heat that’ll keep you high from now until the end of eternity. Check out the dope joint below. It’s some gooood s**t!!!
6) DJ MUGGS x ROC MARCIANO eat fake gangstas for lunch on the “Kaos” mastercut “Aunt Bonnie!” The sinister scene is set as two legends in the game take suckas to task for upsetting the balance of the underground. THIS is how you steamroll over the competition. Hit ’em with an ominous slice of funky boom bap then call on Hip Hop’s king of the laid back flow to crush all pretenders to the throne!
7) GRANDMILLY & DJ SURRUP deliver a slick tale from the “Toad” EP with a soul gem titled “Porch Money!” The ill track is guaranteed to put the pimp strut in your step as you vibe out to the smooth sonics & elastic flows. Some n***as’ verses are comical but the bars Grandmilly spits are no laughing matter!
8) Want to experience an instant classic? Then listen to THA SOLOIST x MELVIN JUNKO’s phenomenal new project “reMEmber!” All of the joints on the album are Top 10 worthy…but we chose “Wake Up!” for its hypnotically compelling production & deeply reflective bars that made us keep the dope joint on REWIND. Tha Soloist made it out alive in this jungle full of monsters. Listen to the high-powered heater & experience what dreams are made of!
9) Underground Hip Hop geniuses CERTAIN.ONES emerge from the studio with a funky banger called “Bolt Thrower!” Three Kings CRAVES, GUTTAMOUF, DZL, and Fourth Musketeer MONTEGA MATEOS are the power players behind this week’s latest slice of supreme sonic heat. They wage an attack on the wack & ascend to new heights on yet another dope track! Frankly put, we would give ’em every slot on the countdown if we could…but it wouldn’t be fair to the other guys!
10) MAGGIE THE 7th delight with a banger chock full of Halloween fright on the “Foul Socrates” monster cut “Tight Coffin!” The eerie audio adventure laced by Tokyo Cigar contains top tier lyricism cradled in a soundscape so solid you’ll be replaying the joint all night long!
