Insomniac Magazine hits the underground with a brand new edition of our Weekly Top Ten! We couldn’t be more thankful for the onslaught of audio excellence…but it also meant many of our faves were left on the cutting room floor. Despite that, you’ll still find PLENTY of dope joints to absorb. So get in gear & tap in below!!!
1) ESTEE NACK & GRUBBY PAWZ set the tone with an “IWANNAFXCKCARMENHAYES” sizzler called “LAND’O’LAKES!” Fueled by an otherworldly soundscape(that summons visions of junkies worldwide trippin’ the f**k out), Nack Daddy-O spits the supreme steez that’ll send listeners to outer space! Beam me up Scotty! The king of the composition’s got us lifted & we won’t be comin’ down anytime soon!!!
2) BLIZZ FROM JUICE & BOOB BRONX didn’t dial in a lackadaisical performance for their ill “Manson Lamps” heater. They charged up their “Motley Crue Phones” & kicked the competition in the dirt!!! The rambunctious rhyme assassins rip into the rock-fueled arrangement with reckless abandon & spit in the face of any stupid muthaf***as who get in their way! This is a hardcore triumph for the underground! Shred your electric guitar & rhyme your troubles away!!!
3) CURTIS COKE & DEE JAY SIGHT create a cinematic masterwork we can all listen to on their “Vocal Movie” mega heater “Street Talk 2!” Compelling bars over a slice of sonic bliss add up to an underground achievement with HEAVY replay value! Everybody knows the streetz iz watchin.’ But when they talk it’s the most exciting thing you’ve ever heard!!!
4) ALL HAIL Y.T. & ANTHONY DANZA put the funk in your face while beatin’ down every chump in the place on the DJ MANIFEST crafted banger “BBS BOYS!” Powered by a Golden Era styled sonic backdrop & exquisite rhymes galore, Y.T. & Danza give Hip Hop what it’s been missing. The supreme duo combine infectious party music with powerful lyrical content and blow the competition away!!!
5) AVENUE, CHASE N CASHE & HIL HOLLA keep remindin’ y’all wannabes that there are levels to this Hip Hop s**t on “Offsides!!!” Chase also performed production duties on this glorious audio triumph that finds the elite MCs spitting self-assured rhymes that prove they’re unstoppable! When you get your artistic weight up MAYBE y’all can hang wit’ ’em. Until then, you’re best standing off to the side!
6) “Only real winners respect the losses!!!” ETO & JAI BLACK team up with production mastermind DEEPSTAR THE ABYSS DWELLA for new “Abyss Dwellas” heat featuring DIRT PLATOON! “God On The Concrete” is about acknowledging the supreme being within & presenting yourself like the king you are from the moment your feet hit the pavement!!! The rhyme slayers didn’t just dream of future accomplishments. They set goals & turned them into reality! There’s a lesson hidden inside the lyrics. Get down to business & look to the crew for inspiration!!!
7) SADAT X & DOUGH NETWORKZ share the “Science Of Life” by enlisting KNOWLEDGE THE PIRATE & JAY NICE to spread the word on a stunning ROC MARCIANO laced production! “Burning Sands” will sear into your soul with epic verses powerful enough to transform a child to a man in one sitting. Cherish every jewel that’s dropped & don’t let the wicked ways of the world pull you asunder!
8) Music & fashion go hand-in-hand. So when Tommy Hilfiger & Amsterdam’s Patta Streetwear needed audio heat for their custom-made style capsule, MIKE, WIKI & THE ALCHEMIST came a’callin’! “One More” is the lead single from the 3 track opus made in conjunction with the product and GOTDAMN, it’s a beautiful piece of work! You’ll simultaneously laugh, cry, and yell in agony for the brief runtime of the project…BUT WAIT! They recorded an entire album…so look out for much, much more!!!
9) NEW VILLAIN joins forces with INTIFADA B’s RAZORS WAVES RECORDS imprint for a sinister 6 track called “Evil Flowers In Full Bloom!” On “Amaterasu,” NAGASHI mans the boards for an ominous underground excursion that finds the maniacal mic menace plotting against his enemies & hurling fireballs at everyone in sight! Scorch the earth & slay all opposition! It’s not just a choice. It’s a lifestyle!
10) CORY GUNZ & DAVID BARS double up on ’em with SOSPECIAL MUSIC GROUP crafted heat called “Brand New!” The lyrical executioners deliver a relentless rhyme assault that could level the planet but stop short of knocking the entire earth off its axis! Lucky for us, they thought of the survival of mankind. If power like this remains unchecked it’s curtains for the universe!!!
