Insomniac Magazine’s Weekly Hip Hop Top Ten 11/30/20

Don’t Sleep On These New Hip Hop Releases

Insomniac Magazine delivers the latest Hip Hop countdown of underground heat! Tap in with the Top 10 & check out the list below!

1) CHE NOIR gets in an ill “After 12” lyrical workout & brings along THE MUSALINI for some “Cruise Control!” The sought after mic titan performs double duty on this sonic thriller by serving up a feast of dope bars & production. The drama’s at an all-time high as Che passionately recalls lame dudes she left behind & wack ass labels that don’t know the time! Before things can get too heated, The Musalini shifts into chill mode with a fly chorus to complement the rhymes!

2) DJ MUGGS x CAPPADONA gear up for the “Winter” with an award-worthy track called “Olympic Stamps!” Cap always brings high-caliber heat to the booth but it’s been a minute since he sounded this HUNGRY! Muggs entered the kitchen & cooked up one of his best batches for the WU warrior. What else they got simmering in the pot?!?

3) This GUTTAMOUF produced explosive is ESSENTIAL listening for every true Hip Hop head & oddly enough that’s the name of the MC spearheading the track! “Verbal Swordplay” (ft. killer cuts by E REX MR SCRATCH HOOK) is one of those musical mind f**ks that had us nodding our head, shouting out to the heavens, and falling to our knees to praise the gods of Hip Hop! The rhymes are hardcore, self-assured & BRILLIANT. Essential floats across a gumbo stew of otherworldly sonic bliss to enliven the underground with his bold command of the mic!

4) FLEE LORD joins forces with WESTSIDE GUNN on the “No More Humble Fashion” heat rock “Cut It 3x” & needless to say, it’s a winner! Aside from the majestic flows of the esteemed mic gods, the break out star here is GHOSTDAVE who produces the lion’s share of the tracks on this project(the Zaza God featured “Roc to the X” & Conway showcased “Doors Locked” – both SERIOUS bangers). G.D. channels the murky, straight out the gutter styled sonic opulence that expertly complements the lyricists’ unique cadences. It’s dirty, unpolished, & better than anything you’ll hear on corporate radio!

5) WILLIE THE KID x V DON continue their flawless collaborative streak on the magnificent platter “Deutsche Marks 2!” One of the standout cuts is the VADO featured slice of sonic excellence titled “Glass Shoppin’!” This track is a 3 minute suspense thriller that sounds like the dramatic tension gets ratcheted up a level whenever the MCs take their turn on the mic. We’re sweatin’ just from listening to the joint. You’ll be sleeping with one eye open & a gat underneath the pillow!

6) STATIK SELEKTAH provides “The (PERFECT) “Balancing Act” of merging the hardcore aesthetic of Buffalo, NY with the slick wordplay of Houston, TX and a lil’ bass & boom bap to boot! On “No Substitute,” BENNY THE BUTCHER & PAUL WALL absorb the high-powered energy of Statik’s sizzling track & transform it into pure lyrical fireworks! BRADY WATT then dips into his musical bag to remind y’all there’s no substitute for this kind of heat!!!

7) When JAMAL GASOL’s in his zone there’s no stopping him!!! On the QUIS STAR laced triumph “Iverson Finish,” The Diadora Don teams up with omnipresent rhyme juggernaut ROME STREETZ & rising lyricist JYNX716 for top notch pass the mic steez that will capture your full attention! These ain’t your ordinary rappers from the underground. They’re MCs destined to shake up its very foundation!

8) ADONIS begins his TEDY ANDREAS laced “Aquemini” gem with wise words from The Purple Prophet before launching into a stellar mic exhibition that cements his acclaimed status on the underground. You’d be hard pressed to find another MC who can put in the kind of work that Adonis exhibits on the regular. He took his time on this & the dedication’s paying off!

9) O THE GREAT x SUPREME CEREBRAL prove that BARS MATTER on DARK SUMMERS crafted audio heat called “Cidade De Deus!” Bugzy brandishes the mic as a warning before sending a succession of lyrical shots to the dome! O follows up with a full round of verbal explosives that rip apart the opposition & leave their ashes blowin’ in the wind!

10) Bodies are being stashed in freezers & wigs are gettin’ split when G FAM BLACK, GENERALBACKPAIN, SUBSTANCE810 & CHUCK CHAN unleash new 8mm action called “Snuff Film!” The title track to G Fam’s upcoming opus contains ominous chords & sinister underpinnings aplenty…but let’s not forget about the bars! The crew batter the mic with reckless abandon. We ain’t supposed to watch but it’s impossible to look away!

Well that’s it for this week. Catch ya next time and…DON’T SLEEP!
