Insomniac Magazine’s Weekly Hip Hop Top Ten 11/4/24

Don’t Sleep On These New Releases

While Halloween is known for a host of hellish scenarios, it seems that one particular heavy hitter from Griselda Records is haunting his competitors on the list. Things are about to get real spooky as you tap in to Insomniac’s Weekly Top Ten!!!

1) WESTSIDE GUNN & DJ DRAMA are “Still Prayin'” as things get gangsta on a CRUCIAL THE GUILLOTINE powered banger called “I Know Verdy!!!” Gunn skates across the speaker-shattering soundscape with ease before the bullets start flying & the competition go running for cover! Lyrically, spiritually, he towers above you. The Flygod is striking back with a vengeance!!!

2) WESTSIDE GUNN’s got all the POWER on a DENNY LAFLARE laced heater called “Cain Tejada!!!” The action-packed “11” sizzler will have you shootin’ up the set then disappearing into the night without a trace! Take a moment to appreciate all the blessings that come your way & never forget to share them with those who stay loyal!!!

3) DJ PREMIER resurrects vocals from the late, great GURU for their latest GANG STARR loosie!!! “Finishem” is the type of track that may draw mixed opinions from the underground at large…but we personally loved the rawness & in your face excitement so much of modern day Hip Hop is missing! Get set to embark on another great Gang Starr adventure! These two legends were way ahead of their time!!!

4) RJ PAYNE makes the competition disappear like “Copperfield” on a HAJI OUTLAW laced “Payne’s Law” heater!!! The mic murderer & sonic subjugator unite to bring down the opposition while showin’ lame muthaf**kas how to level up! Listen up, take notes, learn all you can. They’ll school you once then VOILA they’re gone!!!

5) Church is in session on WESTSIDE GUNN, DJ DRAMA & CONWAY THE MACHINE’s CONDUCTOR WILLIAMS fueled sizzler “Free Shots!!!” Praises go out to The Flygod & his congregation for a soul-rousing slice of sonic inspiration!!! When the shots are free they’ll keep on comin’! They’ll be pourin’ out new heat the whole night long!!!

6) RICHARD MILLI is takin’ a trip “Overseas” and joining him are BOLDY JAMES & WILLIE THE KID on “Still Mergin’!!!” Boldy’s confident, monotone rhymin’ & Willie’s sure-fire slick talk are just what’s needed to ignite the set. It’s a merger clearly manifested in heaven for the appreciation of Hip Hop fans the world over!!!

7) POUNDS448 x BOHEMIA LYNCH team up with DJ BOOGIEMAN for new “Cold World” heat from “If He Dies, He Dies!!!” The raw lyricism, captivating soundscape, and frenetic cuts amp up the action and accelerate the underground excitement to levels previously unattainable. This one stays in heavy rotation! Pounds & Lynch launch a massive wave of endless creativity!!!

8) WESTSIDE POOTIE is still teasing you sad, broke asses for bitin’ her daddy’s style on the ill joint “Underground King!!!” WESTSIDE GUNN & DJ DRAMA are soon joined by ROME STREETZ to get in on the action of makin’ their rivals look stupid! Over a tranquil groove and a mammoth beat, opps are reminded why they need to stay far, far away! Ain’t too many artists can claim they own an empire. But Gunn is front and center on the throne!

9) LLOYD BANKS is a “Connoisseur” of top quality production which is why he taps the great GEORGE GETSON for a new heater from “Halloween Havoc V!!!” The minimalist arrangement brings out the most primal instincts in the savage spitter as he proceeds to eviscerate every portion of the track! There was plenty of turmoil & carnage on October 31st…and everyone knows that Banks was the source!!!

10) “The Myers Effect” is present each & every Halloween as THE 17TH CIPHER can attest on this ill joint featuring SPIT GEMZ, D.GOYNZ, MAR & DOZA THE DRUM DEALER!!! The title track will strike terror into the hearts of all rival crews as the MCS dispatch the kind of verbal violence extracted directly from your nightmares!!! No kitchen knives needed to make their first kill. Lethal lyricism make the cuts so much deeper!!!

Well that’s it for this week. Catch ya next time and…DON’T SLEEP!
