Don’t Sleep On These New Hip Hop Releases
Insomniac Magazine delivers the goods week after week with a brand new batch of underground hits! Check out the sonic masterpieces below and ALWAYS respect the skills!
1) The Fly God wins again as WESTSIDE GUNN, BENNY & LORD FLEE cruise to the apex of audio ecstasy with the Alchemist powered “N***as In Puerto Rico!” The “Hitler Wears Hermes 6” heater is the epitome of the term BANGER! The joint is so sonically immaculate that even when Gunn appears to jump in too early at the start of the track, he finesses the track so beautifully that the error adds to the raw funkiness of the entire affair! Flee Lord is a lyrical revelation as he brings the hardcore grimy nastiness the cut calls for and Benny delivers another brilliant mic turn that will make all underground acolytes bow down and kiss the ring! We didn’t even get to Alchemist…but do we really need to? You already know no one can mess with the heat he delivers…and when you hear the ill beat changes on this joint you’ll spit on the tracks of lesser producers and pay your proper respects!
2) SUPREME CEREBRAL & CRABSKULL link up with RALPHIIE REESE to deliver new “Nightmares” in the form of a monstrous banger called “Mike Myers!” The underground savagery is in full effect as the crew rip the competition to pieces! Souls rise from lifeless corpses as wack emcees fall prey to heart-piercing lyrical daggers and a vicious verbal smackdown that will horrify the opposition! It’s all venom baby. Feel the fury below!
3) AGALLAH’s got murder on the mind as he joins forces with NOWAAH THE FLOOD on the funky ass “Brownsvillain” heater “E.M.S.” (East Medina Slaughter) while Nowaah delivers a dope verse without targeting any emcee in particular, Agallah definitely still has a score to settle with the GXFR camp. The Propain Campaign Capo’s verse culminates in some caustically clever lines about the crew…but we won’t spoil ’em here. Listen below and enjoy the show!
4) HAZE x SPNDA drop ill rhymes & utilize classic Puffy vocals to fuel their insanely dope dutchmastered laced “Dia De Los Muertos” heater “Skeleton Pinata!” The Bad Boys of the underground deliver majestically flawless lyrical jewels that GUARANTEE this joint will be kept on constant rotation in your personal playlist! The flows are dynamic and the beat combined with Diddy’s ad-libs jettison the excitement to a higher level of audio entertainment. Listen to the banger below but don’t be jealous of the skills. Accept the fact you’ll never be better than Haze, SPNDA & dutchmastered then cry your sorry ass to sleep!
5) REKS AND THE SOUNDMAKERS are crushing EVERYTHING that crosses their path on the gloriously funky banger “Call Me REKS!” Kicking off the joint by borrowing Milk Dee’s classic “Top Billin'” line(MC am I…”), the lyrical powerhouse proceeds to slaughter all suckas on the set over a landslide of boulder-shattering boom bap! No one is this vicious on the mic! REKS gives a nod to Hip Hop Heroes from the past while paving the way for an extremely bright future on the scene!
6) COCAREEF x JAMAL GASOL engage in a lyrical beatdown of the competition on the Onaje Jordan laced master work “Bar Brawl!” The “Diaz Brothers” banger finds the high-powered lyricists flexing serious skills on the mic over boom bap dripping with honey-buttered soul! If you wanna step up to battle you’re making a big mistake! This is one fight you’re guaranteed to lose!
7) CA$ABLANCA enlists lilSAL for some interstellar sounding, universe shattering Cap Chino laced sonic action called “Sideways!” The track could easily serve as a top grade sequel to the equally dope “Infinity War” with its forward thinking futuristic leanings. LilSal makes an admirable addition to the proceedings but it’s Cas & Cap Chino who keep the heat rising!!!
8) FERAL SERGE, REIGN SUPREME, DZL, BOBBY CRAVES, FORTIFIED MIND, INFINITE, THE WIZ, and CHAMPUS MAXIMUS do serous damage to WANN SKLOBI’s finely crafted masterwork on CERTAIN.ONES’ latest brilliant transmission “Anvil 9 Hearts!” The super-charged lyrical titans rhyme their hearts out while showcasing amazingly diverse styles that all manage to immediately connect! When it comes to this crew there are no weak links! Imagine what life could be like if you were half as dope as they are!
9) ELOH KUSH has “A Brief Encounter” with a fine goddess AND a seriously funky Onaje Jordan track that incorporates a Janet Jackson classic into the mix. Eloh flows like water over the hypnotic groove and knocks another heater out the park. We wanted the gem to be even longer but it’s a brief encounter after all…so we’ll take what we can get!
10) FUNKY DL just dropped an instant classic called “Dennison Point.” The project details the UK mastermind’s journey from childhood to adulthood on 10 tracks of supremely crafted sonic excellence. Each joint is brilliant and possesses a unique quality all its own…but we chose “Sleep” this week for the haunting quality and reflective lyrics that made us think back to times both good & bad in our own life. Give the gem a listen & cop the entire platter. It’s well worth checking out!
Well that’s it for this week. Catch ya next time and…DON’T SLEEP!
