Insomniac Magazine’s Weekly Hip Hop Top Ten 11/6/23

Don’t Sleep On These New Releases

Insomniac Magazine prepares you for another exciting voyage through the underground! Gear up for action & tap in to the Weekly Top Ten!

1) THE ALCHEMIST doesn’t just body ’em wit’ beats. NOW he’s battering ’em wit’ bars!!! On “Phil Drummond,” the sonic scientist makes his way to the mic & slaps suckers around like Gary Coleman gettin’ stomped by The Gooch!!! If that ain’t enough, CONWAY THE MACHINE crashes the set to catch wreck on this bonafide banger! The world don’t move to the beat of just one drum…but The Drumworks King & Beat Messiah are KILLING it!!!

2) THE UMBRELLA leave your bloody corpse on the rain-soaked pavement as SUBSTANCE810, PRO DILLINGER, SNOTTY & JOSIAH THE GIFT get “Shifty” over a MOSBEATS seared soundscape!!! The tight band of misfits tear up the sonic scenery with elite lyricism that will forever go unmatched. It’s time to end the career of the opposition. And they do so in 3 minutes flat!

3) Only the daylight can protect you because “Death Waits In The Dark!!!” SUBSTANCE810 is knockin’ ’em out with feature verses over HOBGOBLIN laced heat…and on “To Each His Own,” BUB STYLES & PRO DILLINGER join him for the beatdown! The eerie arrangement is just a reminder that your execution is near. It’s a necktie party with the lyricists playing hangman!!!

4) AGALLAH keeps winning the game & on “Claim” it’s easy to see why! The “Brownsvillain 3” sizzler is filled with so much vibrancy & passion that it’s impossible to play it only once. A slice of sonic bliss makes you reminisce as words of a mastermind filter throughout the booth!

5) JYNX716 & CHE NOIR give “Hope” to all aspiring artists on an audio triumph featuring the one & only FREEWAY(who completely SNAPS)! The key to the success of this track involves more than lyrics and production. It’s really about the vulnerability showcased in each of the verses. When these 3 spitters pour out their hearts you FEEL it! The same can’t be said about many MCs who stay focused on the paper…but usually fall short when it comes to the pen.

6) How anyone could fail to recognize the mic skills of RAPSODY is beyond us..but apparently it’s been an issue, as detailed by the super lyricist on “Asteroids.” HIT-BOY is behind the boards for this heaven-sent heater that finds the supreme spitter shooting for the stars & winning! Stop throwing rocks her direction when there’s a mob of so-called MCs more deserving. Rapsody’s rise to fame may not have been meteoric…but her stay on top will surely be forever lasting!

7) There was way too much happenin’ on the court for J.ARRR to quit!!! On the CLYPTO laced “Hoop Dreams 3” heater “Iso,” the power forward of poetry spits high level bars over a stunning arrangement built for champions! The sensation you get from listening to this forces you to be the best you can be. Practice makes perfect so get your grind on! Follow by example and take the lead!

8) SLEEP SINATRA dived into experimental territory on a BLOCKHEAD constructed sonic landscape and reemerged with a juggernaut of a track called “Native Son!” The P.T.G. II powerhouse cut is one of Sleep’s best to date & the banger completely annihilates all obstacles in its path! The lyrical marksman hits his target by sliding into every pocket of the groove. Memories fade but this joint will never be forgotten!!!

9) Who needs Jackie Chan & Chris Tucker when we have FASTLIFE & MADHATTAN?!!! On the LEX WITH THE RECORDS laced gem “Rush Hour 4,” two of the illest lyricists strike terror into the hearts of all competitors! It’s just another day in the realm of “Fear City,” where the strong survive & wack rappers go to die!

10) G FAM BLACK & OGBENGRIMM massacre all opponents on MATHIAS powered steez called “Family Tree!” It’s a hardcore KNUCKLE DRAGGUZ affair as “Earth’s Dirtiest Heroes” pull out the heavy artillery & go to war over the fate of the underground!!! When you enter The Danger Room ya better be prepared to battle. Collect your L cause this crew will never be defeated!!!

Well that’s it for this week. Catch ya next time and…DON’T SLEEP!
