Insomniac Magazine solves the question of “WHO MADE THE LIST?!?” by delivering the latest edition of the Weekly Top 10. If your heart can’t take the excitement LOOK AWAY NOW! But for those who can stand the heat, TAP IN below!
1) CONWAY dropped a bomb on unsuspecting fans with a DELUXE edition of “From King To A GOD!” As expected, there were PLENTY dope joints to choose from…but the one that hit us hardest was “Raw Oysters!” The ever-reliable DARINGER keeps the production murky & ominous while The Machine assassinates every punk in sight. Don’t make the mistake of gettin’ on his bad side. If you wanna battle him the odds ain’t in your favor!
2) Natural chemistry is a rarity in any industry or occupation. But if you’re a Hip Hop lyricist, that elusive connection is a necessity! Luckily PLANET ASIA & THE MUSALINI share a perfect bond which is reflected in the title track to “Pharoah Chain.” The marvelous mic vet & rapidly rising rhyme raconteur flow so effortlessly over NICHOLAS CRAVEN’s heavily fortified gem (it’s clearly designed to ward off wack MCs) that you would think they grew up in the same household, bustin’ rhymes at the breakfast table. When you listen to this joint you’ll be begging for more from the pair & fortunately for y’all they just dropped an entire album!
3) There are celebrities teaching online sessions in acting, cooking, and even dog training. But what the world really needs is for CHINO XL to do a MasterClass on lyricism! Even if that happened, you shouldn’t expect to conjure bars that would even come close to the gems that his mind manifests…but you’d probably get an “E” for effort because you gave it a try. On “The Purist,” Chino once again blows our minds with a dazzling array of flows & ill content(which won’t be spoiled here)over a BALT GETTY soundscape that demonstrates the multi-hyphenate’s as NICE behind the boards as he is onscreen. EVERYTHING about this cut screams INSTANT CLASSIC. Expect to keep this on REPEAT four to FIVE HUNDRED times a day!
4) When RANSOM x NICHOLAS CRAVEN work together they create masterpieces! Muthaf***as are too caught up in their feelings to pay this duo their proper respects…but we’re not afraid to say it!!! One of the greatest aspects of their partnership is the way Nicholas constructs a track that would only appear as an instrumental interlude in lesser hands & gift it to the supreme griot so he can go full-on beast mode! The magnificent “I Am Legend” perfectly showcased this type of craftsmanship & synergy…and “The Rite” highlights their powerful union yet again. The “Crime Scenes” creation features a spectacular star assist from STOVE GOD COOKS over a grandiose Gospel loop that had us praying to the heavens they can keep droppin’ this kind of heat for the next twenty years! Ransom challenges himself with every release it gets better every time!
5) JAE HUSSLE, INDIGO PHOENYX, & MADO enter the arena. Now watch suckers go “NUMB” in the presence of THE TRIAD! To highlight the full impact of what you’re listening to – Imagine if Zeus, Aphrodite, and Hades transformed into MCs & annihilated everyone on the mic! That’s EXACTLY the feeling you get when you hear these rhyme titans together on this CASEY JONES laced explosive! No one’s escaping their wrath & nobody gets out alive! “Lick a shot!” This one’s for Hip Hop! Stop everything you’re doing & PRESS PLAY!
6) When you’re a “Gold Chain Warrior” you join forces with the most powerful entities on the underground! That’s why SUPREME CEREBRAL unites with RASHEED CHAPPELL, JOHN ROBINSON & ELOH KUSH on a RECKONIZE REAL produced arrangement that represents the very paragon of sonic opulence! “Culture/Freedom” is a meeting of the mightiest minds the culture has to offer. Their careers are overflowing with limitless possibilities. Experience the gods on an immaculate cut that will resonate for years to come!
7) JOHNNY STORM is so unassuming that you might not notice him when he enters the room. But the second he steps to the mic it’s FLAME ON!!! The SOHAIL laced “Ghost Of P” isn’t so much a track than it is a vibe you can ride to ’til the end of eternity. Johnny steers the ship through seemingly insurmountable sonic waves and proves he’s master of his craft through dope lyricism!
8) ICEBERG THEORY & AUGUST FANON cap off the year with one final dose of supreme heat in the form of the brand new platter “Dispatches From The Kali Yuga.” There are many hidden treasures to be uncovered on this opus but a major standout is the SLEEP SINATRA x D LANHAM featured gem “Thirty Tyrants!” Powerful lyricism intersects with stunning production for an instantly iconic audio adventure. 9) EVOLVE keeps the streets poppin’ with hardcore heat featuring IBE HUSTLES & S.E.L. “What You Holding?” is permeating with gutter rhythms galore & a “take no prisoners” mindset augmented through the forceful nature of the rhymes. JONES GOT MUSIC drapes his aural canvas around the verbal savagery that emerges & gets cutthroat with this “Suicide Tongue” sonic fest!
10) SQREEB dug up some forgotten gems left on “The Lunar Side” and unearthed G FAM BLACK’s voracious appetite(for devouring wack MCs)on “Shark Food!” The track is by no means a throwaway, so we don’t know how it ended up on the cutting room floor in the first place! This is that head nod bounce ish that G Fam conquers every time! He’s the Kingfish swimming in a sea of desperate guppies!!!
