Insomniac Magazine’s Weekly Hip Hop Top Ten 7/26/21

Don’t Sleep On These New Releases

Insomniac Magazine pulls out the big guns for a brand new edition of the Weekly Top Ten! Brace yourself for impact & check out the list below!!!

1) Production juggernaut TONE SPLIFF sure knows how to get our attention! First he crafts a menacing bassline, adds monstrous drums, then enlists 5 of the greatest modern day mic mavericks to murder the beat!!! RECOGNIZE ALI, ZAGNIF NORI, INNOCENT?, THE BAD SEED & KING MAGNETIC are all undisputed champions of the underground…and the way they flex their skills on this cut epitomize the true essence of lyrical artistry! For a brief tutorial on what it takes to be a great MC, play this track then rewind it all night. Why listen to weak rappers who are out of bounds when you can check out a crew that’s “On-Site!”

2) When RANSOM & RJ PAYNE team up together all competition cease to exist! Bring BIG GHOST in as producer of the track & now we’re talking about global domination!!! On “The Red Wedding” you can envision their enemies’ heads exploding as the mic conquerors lay siege to the set! It’s a glorious bloodbath of epic proportions and we get to shout our approval from the rafters!

3) LORD JUCO & DANIEL SON dive into a jazzy, doo wop infused slice of sonic manna laced by production king FINN! “Skeleton Key” is a nostalgic thrill ride from beginning to end that finds the rhyme slayers reveling in their mutual camaraderie while reminiscing over events from the past. What makes this so great? It’s all in the “Details.” The crew combined their efforts to conjure up another gem!

4) VIC SPENCER & MIL BEATS are “KILLIN’ THESE BASTARDS” on an earth-shattering sizzler called “Dead Life!” The King of Living is known for leaving wack rappers in body bags & this track allows us to experience the decapitation in real time! When Mil discharges that spooky s**t all hell breaks loose! Vic unleashes his inner demons & lets them run wild!!!

5) ROME STREETZ & FUTUREWAVE take listeners into the realm of the “Razor’s Edge” with new heat called “Bible Or The Rifle!” The ascendant underground spitter & sonic svengali are on a mission to take full possession of the industry with top tier material & savvy business moves behind the scenes. This joint radiates skill, power, and undeniable energy. It’s GAME OVER for all rivals challenging the team!

6) STARVIN B & VIC GRIMES deliver a bonanza of heavy bars & boom bap on a “Get Well Soon” sizzler called “Agent X!” It doesn’t take long for B to settle some scores as he smacks up lil’ punks on the mic & sends ’em runnin’ home to mommy. You can’t send a child to do a man’s work. Next time they’ll bow down & show some respect!!!

7) KING AUTHOR offers some “Transitional Assistance” with an ALPHA CENTORI laced audio explosive called “Fine and Safe!” This is one of those joints that’ll upend any plans you had for the day because all you’ll want to do is play it on a loop for the next 24 hours! Yeah, it’s THAT dope!!! The majestic mic czar proclaims his peers to be trash & by the end of the cut you can’t help but believe him. The super lyricist’s arsenal of bars and rocket-fueled track is all the warning suckas need to get out of his way!

8) If we had only “15 Minutes In Queens” we’d stroll around listening to “Reflections” on repeat! The RASHEED CHAPPELL & RECKONIZE REAL gem takes us back to the days where street codes were respected and authenticity was a vital part of life. ‘Seems that truth & loyalty are a thing of the past nowadays but at least the duo’s brilliant track will live on eternally!

9) There are family ties, emotional ties, and the ties that bind. But STRUGGLE MIKE is focused on “Ties” that link directly to The Mob on his “Valenti” heater featuring OCKZ, CHE NOIR & ETO! DIAM performs production duties on Mike’s irresistibly ill joint that finds the lyrical snipers taking aim at a soundscape so impenetrable it appears to be cloaked in Kevlar! Leave it to the trinity of terror to get the job done. They casually steal the show & blow away the competition!!!

10) If BRADY WATT intended to craft a masterwork that could stand the test of time he achieved that goal(AND THEN SOME)with his WESTSIDE GUNN & DJ PREMIER featured sizzler “The Narcissist!” On a track that can only be described as magical, the Bass God contributes opulent arrangements that spur the Buffalo bar deity to emote from the heart and directly connect with the souls of the audience. This is a poignant piece of underground art laced with fantastic Premo cuts AND a PHENOMENAL JIM WARREN & ALEXANDRA DERDERIAN animated visual to boot. Sit back & take in the vibes. Shut off the world because you’re the only thing that matters!

Well that’s it for this week. Catch ya next time and…DON’T SLEEP!
