4) YOUNG BLACK & GIFTED go for the gusto on a phenomenally produced gem by KIDD CALLED QUEST & THE CREATE LEAGUE called “Cutthroat Game!” Lyrical beast AZARIAH vigilantly breaks down the hustle in the course of 3 minutes while Kidd & Co. adorn his wise words with a patchwork of sonic inspiration from Al Green/Rakim, Stetsasonic (Bobby Simmons), and The JBs! There’s only one word to truly describe this gem & it’s UNDENIABLE! You’ll be compelled to play the track relentlessly. Hell, we did & we’re going back to do it again!
5) CORMEGA x SHEEK LOUCH are living proof of the success that can be achieved by following your dreams! On the “MEGA” heater “City Of God,” the Hip Hop icons detail their respective paths to stardom through cinematic bars that would make Scorcese proud. Dark days on the block paved the way for an always “on the grind” mentality that kept them determined to win. Failure was never an option. Now their legendary status is forever engraved in stone!
6) Some rappers need a day and a half to get their point across. P GENZ, on the other hand, will dust ya ass off in under 2 minutes…and he does so triumphantly on a soundscape boiling over with heat by the great HOBGOBLIN! Their “Dump Life” comrade JAY NICE sits out this round to hand off the action to power spitter STACK SKRILLA & GOTDAMN, he makes the most of it! Lefty provides the smooth set-up by delivering unbeatable bars that put others to shame. When he passes the baton to The Bright Skin Don you immediately feel the heightened intensity! Skrilla blesses listeners with a deep confessional that every starving artist can relate to! (“I ain’t even got that much time in/still eating Ramen/still don’t have a job yet/so the work stretch/been the type broke where it feel like torture/peace of mind I need more of”) He gets to the heart of the matter and his vulnerability makes him instantly relatable! After dropping those gems, Thadarkshogunn graces the mic with a breezy flow to send us off to underground ecstasy. TGF makes the ocean levels rise with charismatic elocution that concludes the audio activity on an all-time emotional high!
8) FLASHIUS CLAYTON & SKUNKZ unite as THE CRAFTSMEN and do damage to a J_ES powered joint called “Do The Knowledge!” It’s time to run for cover and book a long trip outta town when the mic mercenaries start shooting! This track is about having fun & Consistent sets the mood with playfully goofy bars that would make Bizmarkie proud!
