Insomniac Magazine’s Weekly Hip Hop Top Ten 5/24/21

Don’t Sleep On These New Hip Hop Releases

Insomniac Magazine hits ya with that supreme Top 10 steez you’ve been craving! Gear up for excitement & check out the list below!

1) Listening to MACH-HOMMY’s new “Pray For Haiti” album made one thing clear. He could easily claim all Top 10 slots!!! That being said, the list ain’t one man’s anchor to carry, therefore he gets the #1 spot instead. Reuniting with WESTSIDE GUNN obviously feels sooo good and that was evident on the CAMOFLAUGE MONK powered joint “RAMI!” The two mic gods tap dance around the beat with the precision of Savion Glover and had us cheering them on every step of the way! This is REAL Hip Hop y’all so get set for action. Any track they’re on just makes the culture better!

2) RENJI 56 of 5TH DIMENSION & Brown Bag Money’s very own DANIEL SON make the competition disappear on “Black Magic! Instead of sitting around and waiting for success to come to them the production master & lyrical assassin stay on their grind to make things happen(“You got to get up & get it/Number #1 life lesson)! Get on board with the crew as they cast a spell on the listeners. Hit that PLAY button cause they conjured up a hit!

3) BODYBAGBEN has always seemed to possess mystical powers that enabled him to soar past his contemporaries. Now we may have discovered the source of his creative energy as he joins forces with RICK HYDE on “Voodoo!” The audio mastermind kicks into gear with a full blast of dope beats, bars, and cuts before passing the baton to the B$F assassin! Rick stomps all over the set then drops an atomic bomb on the building. It’s a lyrical massacre & we have front row seats to the show!

4) RANSOM’s regal delivery meshes perfectly with LLOYD BANKS’ raspy vocal execution on the V DON & NLCK laced gem “Gluttony!” The “Se7en” selection casts a foreboding mood over the proceedings that will resonate with the listener long after the track is over. Any fear lurking deep within your soul is guaranteed to be brought to the surface. Beware the darkness & never lose control!

5) KNOWLEDGE THE PIRATE pulled another one of his “Hidden Treasures” outta the bag & this one featured ROME STREETZ on a track produced by ROC MARCIANO! “Daddy Yankee” is an ominous blues-infused sizzler that sounds like Howlin’ Wolf got pissed off at a bartender & started shankin’ him with a knife! This is true Hip Hop in its purest form…but for the faint of heart this lyrical cocktail might be too intoxicating. Real G’s will knock s**t back without a shrug. It’ll put hair on your chest while you’re shouting at the moon!

6) The Dedicated Dart Unit Capo & king of lo-fi lavishness is back! RALPHIIE REESE returns to smoke the set on a self-produced sizzler called “Butterfly Needlez XIII!” It’s all about the groove as the mic terror flaunts his nimble flow for our listening pleasure. He never stops short of calling himself the nicest. ‘No need for modesty when you’re stating the facts.

7) BENNY THE BUTCHER & 38 SPESH give listeners the TCF/B$F collabo steez they’ve been waiting for with a KLASS MURDA, RANSOM & CHE NOIR featured joint called “Price Of Fame!” “Trust The Sopranos” to come thru with the heat & they do so (AND THEN SOME) in spades!!! Che gets the all-star quotable award on this one with “Look, they put a black person for sale/use churches & tell / that the man we worship is pale/ If you could read that’s why they murdered the males / Now it’s ironic how these n***as catch a sentence ‘fore they learn how to spell.” That’s next level brilliance and we’re here for it!!!

8) G FAM BLACK x ENELS bring the hardcore to your door with a new CRACK SIZZLACK crafted banger called “Front Page!” The 1692 power spitters rip rhymes with reckless abandon while igniting a reign of terror throughout the nation! Avert your eyes from the carnage if the action’s too intense. You can’t escape ’em cause they’re always makin’ headlines!

9) NEW VILLAIN is taking Hip Hop beyond the underground & into the farthest reaches of the universe!!! “Galactus” finds the NoFaceKrew lyricist joyously consuming planets AND emcees’ careers as KNG BONDALERO shifts the sonic action into warp speed! Set a course for adventure & hold on to your seat. Explore the cosmos with a lyrical deity!!!

10) TOKYO CIGAR taps into a state of “Serenity” on his immaculately produced 21 track platter. This album was so dope it demanded inclusion on the countdown…so we made it happen with a cut called “Prime Suspect!” On the ill joint, BLAQ POET, DOWNTOWN DAWSON & SINGAPORE KANE shine brighter than the sun and spit rhymes that melt the mic like molten lava! This sonic triumph has so much going on that you’ll need twenty plays to absorb everything…and even then you’ll find yourself replaying it again! It’s a triple threat attack so let’s run it back with this gem from Dawson as an example: “Roll plants/float to heaven I’ve got no chance/this is not gospel rap I am no Chance/Kids swallow whole Xans/they got no plans/they call television shows programs ’cause they got us programmed…” Yep, LYRICS are back! We send a major salute to the team!

Well that’s it for this week. Catch ya next time and…DON’T SLEEP!
