Don’t Sleep On These New Releases
If you didn’t know, 2021 makes 25 years of bringing the world the best in straight up authentic Hip Hop. With that said, Insomniac Magazine sets off the sonic fireworks with our latest edition of the Weekly Top 10. Get set for action & check out the list below!
1) MIDAZ THE BEAST smacks ya up with that “LiveN***aRap” over a SHARP crafted top tier production! “Pardon” the Hip Hop Heavyweights for bumrushing the set but y’all should’ve known they were gonna stomp out your entire operation! This is mic mastery of a greater magnitude than you could ever imagine backed by a soundscape that puts other tracks to shame!!!
2) TONEYBOI & GAINE$ are bustin’ straight out the “GroupHome” with a “Project 77” banger featuring a power assist from BRAD PIFF! An understated guitar riff establishes the tone before a hellified bassline unleashes holy havoc on the underground at large. Ahhh yes, there will be carnage! Mass destruction is all but assured. Hold on to your seats & give this slaughterfest a try!
3) PAWZ ONE serves as chief medical examiner of the underground & his diagnosis of the industry is dire! On the SHANTY GALLOS laced “Seppuku,” listeners are regaled with tales of fickle fans, corporate nitwits and the general f***ery infecting the music and culture that we love! Praise & accolades don’t mean a damn when its coming from people who don’t really give a s**t. Ignore the rats & snakes and make music from the heart!
4) YOGA FLAME KANE & MEPH LUCIANO crafted a true masterwork in every sense of the word with their brilliant new opus “The Science!” When a project’s this dope it’s difficult to choose only one standout cut(*Honorable Mention goes out to the “Anointed” ft. Nonchalantly Zay & “Digital Formula” w/ Grim Moses)but the JAE HUSSLE featured “Mirrors Edge/The Oasis” ultimately took the top prize! This track(and platter as a whole)is how underground Hip Hop should & probably will sound in the year 3000! It contains raw energy, futuristic soundscapes, and ill rhymes galore! Keep this on rotation when you pull up at the cook out!
5) DRAY YARD is taking no shorts with the singles!!! On “Murda Season/Wonda Season,” WYZE WONDA, LORD LUMINOUS, ASUN EASTWOOD & BLO/B confront a superior arrangement from the production maverick and stare it down before it finally succumbs to their unassailable artistry! Check out a bilingual bonanza of boom bap excellence! It’s another “Rugged Gems Made By Rusty Razors, Book II” banger for the fans!
6) LENA JACKSON garners attention & the UTMOST respect as she rips the scenery to shreds on an ACHILLES HILL powered explosive called “Witness Statement!” The savage siren spits the kind’a s**t that makes a muthaf***a drop to his knees and praise the gods of Hip Hop for bestowing her lyrical blessings upon us!
