Don’t Sleep On These New Hip Hop Releases
There’s a celebration going on & it’s right here at Insomniac Magazine! Come in from the cookout & check out the list below!
1) FASTLIFE x MADHATTAN already showcased their amazing chemistry on March’s “No Politics” collabo platter. NOW their ill rapport is on display once again on the “FastLife 3” heater “Oohs & Aahs!” The SWAVE powered mega blast contains a MASSIVE beat, insane piano chords, flute samples, and of course, the deadliest rhymes on the planet! You’ll be compelled to pump up the joint as you stare at your speakers in awe. They got the title right by callin’ it Oohs & Aahs because that’s exactly what you’ll be screaming when you hear those stellar bars!!!
2) Hopefully no one was stupid enough to count The Flygod out because he dun did it again!!! WESTSIDE GUNN presents “Flygod Is An Awesome God 2” in all its glory and one of the MAJOR standouts was this BENNY & BOLDY JAMES featured slice of sonic supremacy produced by DARINGER! “Buffs Vs. Wires” is three minutes of soul-fueled nirvana! Gunn kicks things off with his hypnotically melodic lyrical acrobatics & Boldy ends the joint with a dope, commanding flow…but let’s face it, Benny’s verse on this joint is EVERYTHING! “Who said it was simple/them prisons strengthened my mental/I broke the lead on the paper from writin’ letters in pencil/It’s a process/ I’m fresh, I just moved out the projects/million dollar deals an’ still feel like I ain’t hot yet/Biggie Smalls in the Coogi/Al Green in the Mock Neck/Russell Simmons my mindset/I’m ol’ Hov wit’ a pyrex!” WHAT?!? If you’re an MC who’s NOT Benny you gotta be askin’ yourself “WHY AM I STILL RHYMIN’?!?” The elephant in the room needed to be addressed. Hope y’all used the Quarantine wisely to work on your skills!
3) FLEE LORD must be a VERY humble man. The reason we say that is because he was sittin’ on a project BOILING over with HEAT…then quietly dropped it on us like it was some throwaway ish. FAR FROM IT. In fact, there were so many dope joints on “Alter Ego Fleeigo Delgado” that future placements on this countdown are all but guaranteed! In the meantime though, we have one spot available…so we chose the ELCAMINO featured heat blast “Livin Lavish!” MELKS is on tap for production supplying ill organ samples that are expertly matched with the beat. Both lyricists are clearly in the zone because they effortlessly BODY this joint! It’s hardcore, gritty, funky…Authentic Hip Hop through & through!
4) SLIM ONE supplied new “IL Genio Del Male” magic with a “Mad Lethal” dose of supreme lyricism from DANIEL SON & G4 JAG! This high-powered heater ruptured our spleen with its rapid fire production, funky ass cuts, and god bars from two of the most prolific powerhouses on the underground! Enlisting the rhyme titans for this track was a stroke of genius. We go from the Brown Bag Money mic fiend’s dynamic performance in the booth to JAG’s treacherous delivery…and the contrast couldn’t be more sublime. Take a hit of these venomous verses. They might prove fatal but at least you’ll have a good time!
5) PRYME PROLIFIK & DJ BEN WORKIN join forces with the legendary SADAT X for a slice of sonic rapture title “WHATIZASINNER!” If you ever doubted these underground heavy hitters, this joint will make you immediately repent for past transgressions! We literally caught the Holy Spirit when X & Pryme blessed the mic with their presence while Ben Workin’s soul rousing soundscape raptured us to higher plane!
6) WESTSIDE GUNN isn’t merely a FLY GOD. He’s also a generous one. As he rises up the ladder, the GxFR marketing genius has always made a point to reach out to emerging talent & lend them a helping hand. His latest discovery is prospective chart conqueror ARMANI CAESAR! On the JR SWIFTZ laced “Lil Cease,” Gunn provides a brilliantly agile assist over a dope “Dr. Bird’s” inspired sonic landscape before Armani proceeds to step in & OWN the track. It’s clear she isn’t new to this as the bar savage brings the smoke for a spectacular star turn that will have industry tongues wagging! Labels will be lining up to offer Armani anything she wants…but the power’s in her hands so why bother signing?
7) Y’all want to walk in DNTE’s shoes but your feet ain’t big enough!!! The bar slinger SMASHES the set on new DRK THE LEGEND powered audio insanity titled “Spin Saucer!” How the lyrical executioner manages to always sound so smooth on the hardest of tracks we’ll never know…but once again, he maintains the composure of a professional assassin while applying killshots to the competition! “As I walk through the shadow of death I will fear no evil.” DNTE’s like The Terminator coming to complete the job. You wack rappers have every right to be afraid!
8) BUCKWILD came “Fully Loaded” with top tier production & a checklist of underground superstars who dominated the mic. One in particular was RASHEED CHAPPELL who repped the streets to the fullest on “Real N*****” The lyrical tactician carefully weaves his animated bars around the music maestro’s supreme soundscape with skillful finesse. He captures our attention with ease & proves he’s a virtuoso of the verses yet again!
9) SQUEEGIE O puts listeners up on that “Slum Livin” with BLAQ KNIGHT produced audio opulence that blew us away! The mic mastermind sounds like he channeled a lifetime of misery & hardships into this precise moment to shine! On the immaculately crafted track, you can feel the power spitter’s pain along with an unyielding passion to survive! The devil comes in many forms…but Squeegie O conquered his demons to find major success on the charts!
10) You know we love to leave ya with a banger & LOGUN OF MAIN AIM’s “5th Of Grime” track most definitely fits the bill. “The Shogun Tape” opener is so hardcore that it will leave craters in your livingroom! LoGun lunges into such an unhinged display of raw lyricism that he might need a straitjacket between recording sessions! From what we understand, the feral mic maverick’s been in seclusion for years until he found the perfect moment to strike. Now that he’s back in town we pray he NEVER leaves us again!
Well that’s it for this week. Catch ya next time and…DON’T SLEEP!
