Insomniac Magazine’s Weekly Hip Hop Top Ten 7/9/18

Don’t Sleep On These New Hip Hop Releases

Insomniac Magazine returns with new audio heat for the latest edition of our Weekly Top Ten! Check out the high-powered list below & respect the skills!

1) NOFACE supplies a raw sonic backdrop for ill interplay between ANKHLEJOHN & RAHIEM SUPREME on “Midas Touch.” The Washington, DC rhyme warriors spit flames as they flex their skills to the fullest! The two titans try to one up each other but they’re both so dope we’ll call it a draw. Listen to the hardcore joint below. It’s what you’re waiting for!

2) GRANDMILLY & SHOZAE take us to “Adventureland” with a funky new banger called “Phillip Lim.” The smooth groove complemented by sexy female backing vocals add momentum to the proceedings & elevate the track to new heights. When you check out this gem all sins will be forgiven. Add style to your life & let these two lead the way!

3) KOOL G RAP & 38 SPESH plot a “G Heist” over Daringer’s impenetrable soundscape! The deadly duo spin a crime tale so cinematic it should be on a movie screen. Instead we get vivid bars from two of the best in the biz. SPOILER ALERT: It was all a dream! Or more accurately, Hip Hop nirvana delivered by a legend in the game & one well on his way!

4) Eric VANDERSLICE created “The Best Album Money Can Buy!” That might sound a little over the top UNTIL you listen to VIC SPENCER’s “Bone Museum.” NOW we’re not only agreeing with the producer but we’re wondering why we weren’t charged more! Vic gives it all he’s got…and what he’s got is a lot! We’re talking rhymes galore from the CEO of body bags! You’re digging your own grave if you go up against him.

5) ROME STREETZ enters the arena with Da Cloth’s MOOCH & RIGZ to put competitors in a “Cobra Clutch!” The Farma Beats powered “Street Farmacy” heater sent chills down our spine with it’s sinister groove & bone-breaking rhymes! Rome, Mooch, and Rigz are the VIPs of this rap game! You know what it be, f**k what you thought before!

6) K. BURNS, FETTY & SMOOVTH raise the crime rate thru the tri-state as they steal the show on “Time To Kill!” Vinyl Villain creates an ominous atmosphere filled with dread & apprehension…so run away if you can’t stand the heat! Our fearless rhyme lords attack the track with expert precision as they remain focused & geared up for war. The skills are evident & ill styles are in abundance. Take SmooVth’s verse as an example – “Cassius Clay/I float like a butterfly/add the bacon soda/let the butter fly, what a guy!” Hip Hop’s alive & well. When it’s time to kill a track you know who to call!

7) Mutant Academy’s FLY ANAKIN & production visionary Cashby were getting blazed one starry night in 2016 & the end result was a funky track called “Dimes & Quarters!” The newly unearthed gem sports a bewitching groove & triggers a transformative encounter that will lift your soul directly from your body into the outer fringes of the universe. Open your mind to an experience unlike any other. “Dimes & Quarters” means it’s time for change.

8) AGALLAH lives forever up in the “Lazarus Pits!” The amped up emcee tramples all who step in his path with an earth-shattering soundscape and ill bars that can’t be beat! This is the type of joint that makes you bumrush the door at that bourgeois club & turn it into an old school B-Boy jam! The rapture of the Hip Hop gods is upon us & Agallah is leading the charge!

9) O THE GREAT delivers a sonic heatwave for listeners to vibe out to on the Free Mind powered “Rock The Bells @SummerJam!” The lyrical mastermind paints a vivid description of the people, places, and things he observes when the weather gets warmer. The images conjure a state of reflection that make the track instantly relatable to all east coast dwellers surviving through the scorching temperatures. O & Free Mind put superior craftsmanship into their seasonal offering & it just might be THE song of the summer!

10) Paris production master DJ BRANS linked back up with Baltimore’s DIRT PLATOON to reminisce on times both good & bad with the DJ Djaz featured banger “Think Back!” The hardcore heater is all about authenticity as it highlights broken homes, street life, police corruption, kidnappings, and murder. The crew take you inside their world & LEAVE YOU THERE to simmer. Bring it on if you think you can hang & if not then let me do my thang!!!

Well that’s it for this week. Catch ya next time and…DON’T SLEEP!
