Insomniac Magazine’s Weekly Hip Hop Top Ten 8/10/20

Don’t Sleep On These New Hip Hop Releases

It’s countdown time again & Insomniac Magazine’s back to hit ya with the heat! Check out the illustrious list below!

1) V DON, SAUCE HEIST, ANKHLEJOHN & DA$H drop sonic explosives on the opposition with an undisputed banger titled “30 for 30!” The production phenom & lyrical lords trample all over your terrain & claim the whole f***in’ territory as their own. Victorious verses upend your dreams & drag you to Hell before reemerging from the ashes to snuff out your entire family! They spit in your face & s**t on your set…but you’re powerless to stop the malevolent villains! What ya cryin’ for? It’s “Too Late 4 Tearz.” You should’ve bowed down when they first bumrushed the building!

2) There’s no stoppin’ that BBM S**t as DANIEL SON, ASUN EASTWOOD, FUTUREWAVE & 36th CYPHER heat up the spot with “Portable Stoves!” Asun & Daniel Son push your head into the pavement & assault your senses with their distinctive brand of lyrical wizardry! 36th Cypher keeps you off balance by bestowing knowledge on you feeble-minded wannabes while Futurewave rings the death knell that makes you pull the plug on your entire career! Y’all rappers keep tryin’ to test but you’ve been warned. “Bite The Bullet” and gaze into the mirror of obscurity!

3) RECOGNIZE ALI & VINNIE PAZ bring “Recognition” to the fact they’re the best MCs alive with DJ TMB featured underground action produced by B-SUN! “Holy War” is an out-the-box smash that instantly rattles the senses and forces you into battle mode! Vinnie is the first to “detonate the bomb” as a mushroom cloud of lyrical activity materializes in his wake. Recognize goes for your medulla and penetrates your mind with non-stop shots to the dome! They deliver a track that’s unflinchingly hardcore. It’s murder rap that’ll lift your spirits in hard times!

4) When CONWAY THE MACHINE drops a new track it leaves a sour look on the face of his competition! Now he enlists Wu-legend METHOD MAN to reinforce the point on the DARINGER & BEAT BUTCHA powered joint “Lemon!” The GxFR terminator immediately gets down to business by spraying his rivals with an onslaught of deadly bars before Meth kills ’em by kickin’ off the set with “Capone & Noreaga watchin’ CNN/black whips, black tints, y’all ain’t seein’ in…” Want more? Nah muthaf***a! We copped our copy. You’ve got to buy your own!

5) JAY ROYALE takes us to “The Baltimore Housing Project” with a RANSOM featured banger laced by RAY SOSA! On “Skee Rack” we find two lyrical powerhouses effortlessly wreckin’ the booth while delivering vivid descriptions of their surroundings. It’s street reporting of the highest order told by 2 kings of the mic. They say the underground’s thriving & now you know why!

6) WATERR x KURSE have developed a unique collaborative connection in the sense that together they can do no wrong! Their latest showcase of sonic perfection is titled “Workshop Of The Mind” & one of the major standouts is the TY FARRIS featured banger “Cavalli!” Waterr & Ty ward off The Season Of The Sickness by possessing lyrical immunity to all wack rappers who enter their path. The Kurse injects listeners with an overabundance of audio heat an’ now the underground’s safe from harm all year long!

7) ARMANI CAESAR reenters the court with a lyrical assist from BENNY THE BUTCHER & a funky beat from the one & only DJ PREMIER! “Simply Done” is another reminder that GxFR ain’t signin’ no slouches! Armani makes her case as a crucial member of the team by reflecting the commercial viability of rap queens like Megan Thee Stallion & Cardi B while supplying the one component they’re both missing…BARS! For Benny, this joint is light work. He spits ill rhymes in his sleep. And Preemo’s just the icing on the cake for the sonic celebration of Griselda’s latest success!

8) MOSBEATS keeps it “Hardcore” with a SNOTTY featured mega blast from the production master’s “NYSED” project! Funky head nod heat is complemented by an exotic guitar riff before the rhyme renegade wakes listeners up to the realities of the street! The joint’s quick, to the point, and incredibly effective. ‘It’s deeper than we can put in words’ so we’ll let the music speak for itself.

9) ICEBERG THEORY x AUGUST FANON triumph again & include VIC SPENCER in on the win! “Good Rhymin,’ Bad Singin'” is a track from the devastating duo’s latest project “The Cabal(a)” that caught our attention for it’s dope verses & hilariously (and intentionally), horribly sung hook that would make Bizmarkie proud. With all the mean muggin’ going on these days it’s rare to hear MCs actually having fun…and they do so over another opulent August production. This sounds like the drunken go-to song thugs will be singing for years to come. It was a big risk to drop a joint like this but it led to a coveted slot on our chart!

10) G FAM BLACK x CLOAQXDAGGER have a “Colombian Connect” who knows a thing or two about droppin’ dope music! D.R.E. COLOMBIAN RAW takes the reins of “The Most Savage” sizzler & spits supreme bars before G Fam steps in to body the set! CLOAQxDAGGER amplify the intensity & (Colombian Neck)tie the whole affair together with a stellar soundscape that triggers paranoia from the second you PRESS PLAY!

Well that’s it for this week. Catch ya next time and…DON’T SLEEP!
