Don’t Sleep On These New Hip Hop Releases
Insomniac Magazine is packing a full clip of sonic ammo for the latest edition of our Weekly Hip Hop Top Ten. Get set for audio excitement & check out the list below!
1) It’s “No Politics” but there’s PLENTY of heat as producer BODYBAGBEN tops the countdown AGAIN! This time he connects with power spitters MADHATTAN x FASTLIFE for a volatile victory lap around the underground called “Duck SZN!” Hip Hop’s highly-in-demand hitmaker conjures a chilling atmosphere that promises to shake you to your very core. Madhattan & Fastlife amplify the terror with brutal lyricism that will expose your inner b**** break down your hardcore facade. You thought you could handle the pressure but ya came up short. Beg for mercy all you want. Not even God can help you now!
2) ONAJE JORDAN crafts a priceless piece of sonic art then enlists lyrical architects KILLY SHOOT, GENERALBACKPAIN & O THE GREAT to build an impenetrable foundation of dope verses. “Thoro To Euros” is a lavish exploration of exquisite living. In the midst of all the Saint Tropez serenity & Monte Carlo musings, the #hometeam heroes & magnetic mastermind remind us how they got here in the first place. The answer: BARS & creatively distinct flows that can’t be duplicated by the competition!
3) RECOGNIZE ALI has proven himself to be an “Underground King” time & time again. But for those who need their memory jogged, here’s a cold slap across ya face in the form of the high-powered banger “Colombian Marijuana!” Ali smokes the track then lights up for a second round. His impact on Hip Hop leaves reverberations throughout the industry and confirms once again that he’s most worthy of the crown.
4) FLEE LORD links up with GRAFH x RJ PAYNE for a “Loyalty & Trust” heater called “Contract Plus The Bag!” The 38 SPESH produced gem delivers a laid back minimalist groove that sets the lyricists up for action. Flee gives ya smoldering, unrestrained intensity, Grafh beats you down…but gives you a handkerchief to wipe up the blood and RJ chops you up into tiny little pieces then feeds them to the dogs! You got a contract on your head? They’ll find you. Nowhere to hide…Nowhere to run.
5) KEV BROWN & J SCIENIDE pump their lyrics up with “Steroids” for a frenzy of phenomenal flows on track 4 of the duo’s “Drum Machine Tape Cassette” collabo. The non-stop rhyme onslaught would leave a mere mortal breathless…but two minutes into the action & the party’s just gettin’ started! The tag team attack is all that’s needed to scare off any rivals. They’re strong in this game while you’re weak…so stop playin’.
6) In one’s wildest imagination it would be impossible to conceive of a creation as brilliantly-constructed as the CERTAIN.ONES. Yet here they are. The magnificent mic monsters’ latest release is a WANN SKLOBI assembled audio heater unleashed on fans called “Are We Frankenstein’s.” REIGN SUPREME, GUTTAMOUF & BOBBY CRAVES lead wack emcees to the EXIT then blow up the booth with monolithic compositions. It’s time to conquer your fear & throw caution to the wind. Experience their brand new invention.
7) ANKHLEJOHN does whatever he wants and you can’t do anything about it! Over a self-produced off-kilter soundscape, Big Lordy takes listeners on a walk thru the darkside. “Only Fans” delivers more insight into the mind of the Shaap Records super lyricist as he flexes on ya bum ass n***as! Hate the game, never hate the playa. Ankhlejohn is a self-made success. You’ll never reach his level. That’s why you’ll only be a fan.
8) TY FARRIS describes a violent, claustrophic realm of existence that sounds all too familiar. In fact you might be there RIGHT NOW!!! The street visionary paints a powerful portrait of the projects over TROX & SAMAREI’s hypnotic production for the “Room 39 Part 2” heater “You Didn’t Know You Was In Hell!” It ain’t no science fiction when assault rifles enter the scene. The song might be over but the nightmare continues…
9) RU$H & JAY NICE earn the highest acclaim in the underground with a superior $hy Guy laced gem called “Hood Grammys Ghetto Oscars!” The rhyme rebels experience world class dining at its finest while dropping the dopest lyrics around! It’s all about breakin’ bread with the “Famili.” If you ain’t related don’t act like you’re down.
10) COCAREEF, PRO ZAY & CERTAIN.ONES prevent you from f***in’ up the flow for the whole block by takin’ us back in time to “1979!” The crew emerge from the deepest recesses of ROB DENIRO’s subterranean underworld to snatch up your soul & spit it back out onto the pavement. BOBBY CRAVES shatters your ego while Cocareef & Pro Zay sweep away the pieces. The mirror displays a reflection of your true self. But you’ve been living a lie for so long that there’s nothing left to see.
Well that’s it for this week. Catch ya next time and…DON’T SLEEP!
