Insomniac Magazine’s Weekly Hip Hop Top Ten 8/3/20

Don’t Sleep On These New Releases

Insomniac Magazine bumrushes the set with the latest edition of the Weekly Top 10! Gear up for adventure & check out the list below!

1) JAY NICE x RU$H team up with WILLIE THE KID for stellar “Fly Art” steez called “Streets Of Rage 91!” The crew’s bar game is second to none as they flood the city with luxurious lyricism & enough electricity to power the entire continent! JLVSN comes HEAVY with the production & immerses us in the underground action. Watch ya step outside cause the streets are on fire!!!

2) AL.DIVINO x FUTUREWAVE teach y’all how to “Slide” on a brand new heat blast courtesy of FXCK RXP RXCXRDS! The lyrical technician lets the groove dictate his actions as he seamlessly bounces around a funk-fueled soundscape. This cut is more about beats than bars but the mic ripper still makes his presence known within the framework of the track. Al catches a vibe & keeps the flow goin’ while Futurewave ratchets up the blistering intensity!

3) PETE TWIST conjures powerhouse production & lets J.SCIENIDE, KAIMBR & DJ TMB do “The Honors” on a triumphant banger shaking up the streets! J & Kaimbr have no problems eviscerating the competition…and they do just that in the course of 3 minutes! DJ TMB accompanies the oppositions’ demise with dope skills on the 1 & 2’s. It’s an honor to be blessed with supreme heat of this magnitude. Prepare for excitement & tap in below!

4) ETO & V DON never disappoint! On “The Last Call,” listeners are pulled into a dark reality punctuated by graphic bars & captivating production that linger long after the track is over. Eto supplies all the grim details of a violent lifestyle that benefit no one but The Grim Reaper. This existential Escape Clause leaves much to be desired but it’s the only one left in his final bid for freedom!

5) KHEYZINE unleashes hardcore heat while JOHN CREASY decimates all foes on the “Robert McCall” banger “Lavish Language!” John’s stirrin’ s**t up like John Gotti as he shoots up the set with a tour de force of lyrical fury! It’s a one minute and thirty-two second eulogy to the competition. You’ve been diggin’ your graves for years. Now it’s time to jump in!

6) Another month means another dope EP from ROB VIKTUM! On the “O’Herlihy” heater “Let The Slugs Fly,” SKYZOO, BIG TWINS & SKREWTAPE take the lead! Sky’s smooth elocution, Twins’ gruff dominance, and Skrew’s unhinged mic attack serve as the perfect lyrical overlay to Rob’s heavy hitting production! If they can’t hear ya over all the bulls**t let the slugs fly & see if they’ll listen!

7) Come on now. When ya heard FLEE LORD x PETE ROCK were teaming up you knew s**t was gonna be FON-KAY! For what’s become a tradition with Flee, there were too many ill joints to choose from. On this go round we went with “The People’s Champ” (Outro)because of the hypnotic, minimalist production & the lyricist’s playful maneuvering around the track. More so than any other project, Flee Lord appeared to be having a helluva good time…and who can blame him when you have Pete Rock behind the boards?

8) For every dope underground artist on the scene there’s always somebody steady sleepin’ on ’em! Make sure YOU don’t fall into that category because some muthaf***as are too ill to be ignored! Case in point – DEZINER DRUGZ, PLEX DIAMONDS, VILLA VELLI & PROF. PARKS who rip an ill WORK SCORSESE soundscape to shreds on “German!” There are plenty of ways to body a track but we can’t think of any who do so as passionately & effectively as this crew! Salute the team for upper echelon bars & beats. We f**ks wit’ em & you should too!

9) It seems like everyone’s afraid of the truth but CRAIG G will peer into your consciousness, rip out “The Fragile Ego” & expose it to the “Limelight!” Not everyone’s built for the industry but The Juice Crew MC’s survived a lifetime of corporate contrivances…so when he speaks ya better listen! Craig breaks down the elements of the players & those that get played with powerful self-assurance. He chips away at the cosmetic facade & exposes listeners to an often brutal reality!

10) PAPPY NATSON & THE CUSTODIAN OF RECORDS left a MASSIVE crater in the underground with a dope new project! One of the most pivotal tracks is the LITT GREEN featured “Audio Capers.” The cut contains a majestic, minimalist backdrop that functions as a protective fortress around the stellar showcase of bars! This is Hip Hop at its finest! When the lyrical floodgates are pried open all opposition’s left drowning in their wake!

Well that’s it for this week. Catch ya next time and…DON’T SLEEP!
