Insomniac Magazine’s Weekly Hip Hop Top Ten 9/27/21

Don’t Sleep On These New Releases

It’s time for action as Insomniac Magazine hits ya with the Weekly Top Ten! Get yourself in gear & tap in below!

1) WESTSIDEGUNN, BENNY THE BUTCHER & CONWAY heat up the set with “Hell On Earth, Pt. 2!” Guided by SOVREN’s stellar sonic arrangement, the GxFR warriors drop a succession of dope bars that push the hyper-charged track way past the boiling point! Rhymes are launched, rivals are slain, and even a few rumors are addressed. Check out Griselda’s home run kings at the top of their game!

2) DJ MUGGS & CRIMEAPPLE are livin’ lavish on the “Cartagena” banger “Bathtubs Full Of Veuve!” The Manteca mic mercenary seems like he has an umbilical cord connected directly to the Soul Assassin’s soundscapes! Muggs’ tracks give Crime life and plenty of room to grow & develop as an artist…and this joint in particular appears to revitalize every fiber of his being. He bears down on the fractured instrumental and absorbs its DNA then delivers a brand new gem that’s otherworldly!

3) CANIBUS is cut from the cloth of the most noble luminaries of ancient times. But behind the prestige lies the heart of a prize fighter! On “Entameta,” the legendary lyricist tackles a MASSIVE slice of sonic opulence from the great BODYBAGBEN & masterfully bends it to the power of his will! Ben doesn’t make it easy on him either. The production king ramps up the action & dominates the hell outta the 1 & 2’s but Canibus remains the conqueror of all he surveys!

4) What’s “A Kid From Queens” gonna do when he steps in the booth? Link up with BACKPACK BEATZ & drop a dope EP of course! RED INF demonstrates the skills that’ll keep him ahead of the pack on the hardcore heat rock “Street S**t!” On this joint you get “take no prisoners” bars, bone crushing beats, and a killer groove to boot. Ya can’t just play it once. Expect to keep it on repeat all night long!

5) You can’t get more deadly than a cut featuring WESTSIDEGUNN, ROME STREETZ & super producer JR SWIFTZ! If impending death had a theme song “Eddie Kingston” is what it would sound like. Gunn gives the intimidating alley-oop to Rome who straight up MURDERS everything in sight! He doesn’t give a f**k about a list but gotdammit we’re putting him on one anyway!

6) LUCKY SEVEN & FLEE LORD pop up in the nick of time to spray listeners with a splash of “Orange Soda!” The heralded spitters are known to have a chill demeanor but if you owe ’em some cash that s**t flies out the window…FAST!!! A track like this perfectly represents the head nod heat we love to listen to while also reminding us that a hit man might be waitin’ by the door!

7) EL DA SENSEI & JAKE PALUMBO are “Solving Cases” with INNOCENT? & SADAT X on “Not The Same!” The frenetic power cut contains rapid-fire rhymes & a super-charged arrangement that feels like you’re in the center of a speeding locomotive! When this crew comes to town ya better move out the way or prepare to get dismembered in the process!

8) EA$Y MONEY & MELKS are joined by RASHEED CHAPPELL & FABEYON on a smooth gem called “Talk To Me Nice!” “The Dream Is Free” sizzler cuts through the illusion of a perfect life to focus on a cold, harsh reality. In this case, relationships come into play & the underlying motives behind someone’s actions. People think they can gain a lot by arguing. But with a civil conversation they could have so much more.

9) THE BAD SEED takes flight on a SHADE COBAIN powered production called “Paper Planes!” Fake friends & jealous spectators are called into question as the lyrical kingpin observes them with bemusement. He effortlessly flows over the most complex arrangements. Haters are left standing in the shadow of his success!

10) RASHEED CHAPPELL joins forces with MAF & B.A. BADD for a “Checks & Balances” banger called “We Outside!” While other MCs are afraid to leave the house, the three rhyme titans steadily cruise across 38 SPESH’s sonic terrain & BODY the entire arena! We don’t know what these powerhouses have planned for the future but this joint was a much-needed breath of fresh air!

Well that’s it for this week. Catch ya next time and…DON’T SLEEP!
