Insomniac Magazine Hip Hop Top Ten September 7, 2020

1) GHOST OF THE MACHINE x WEAPON E.S.P bring listeners into “The Juice Era” with a DJ GRAZZHOPPA featured grand slam! Calling it dope is an understatement. What it really represents is one more example of how the team perfectly exemplify Hip Hop at its finest! The DJ PROOF powered heater kicks serious ass & serves as a reminder that the mic champs got game. With presence to spare & the illest flows in the league it won’t be long before you’re chanting their names!

2) DJ ENYOUTEE x THE BAD SEED find a “Way To Live” among all the wack ass wannabes who aren’t deserving of their time! The celebrated turntable titan & prestigious power spitter maintain complete subjugation of DIFUTURE’s dark soundscape while crushing the dreams of all rivals! The heat emanating from this joint is way past the boiling point so turn on the AC when listening. Get “Past The Politics” and keep your ear to the street. This track’s gonna blow you away!

3) SPODA declares a “State Of Emergency” on any fool who steps up to battle! If you think the lyricist’s outrageous boasts are merely idle threats you obviously don’t know the CODE OF THE STREETS. That ain’t a problem though cause all will be revealed on the MARTELLO baked heat blast “C.O.T.S.” The grimy, gospel-laden production serves as the ideal crossroads between the gutter & God’s salvation. But if you’re expecting a benedictory prayer hymn you can look elsewhere! Spoda’s on some barbaric, murder the mic type s**t and he pulls it off effortlessly. Simply put, y’all can’t f**k wit’ dude. Spoda’s the savior Hip Hop’s been waitin’ for. First he’ll drop knowledge then he’ll cut off your head!!!

4) G FAM BLACK x TALI RODRIGUEZ are droppin’ “Hammers” on muthaf***as & this time they’re bringin’ P-RO along! “Coat Of Honor” kicks into gear with some mystical boom bap wish that sounds like Rae & Ghost got stranded on Fantasy Island! Unfortunately, there’s no Mr. Roarke & Tattoo to greet ’em…but G Fam & P-Ro prove to be more than capable of providing some hardcore hospitality. P’s been in Top 10’s his whole life so landing this spot is something he’s clearly accustomed to. G springboards off his partner-in-rhyme’s smooth flows with ease. He projects a gargantuan grandiosity on the mic that consumes everything in sight! None of this would be possible without Tali’s sonic contributions. He ties everything together & maintains total control.

5) ANKHLEJOHN x AL.DIVINO introduce the world to “The New Militia” on HNIC crafted heat titled “1312!” Big Lordy & Al are two of the most consistent MCs on the scene. Seriously, when have they ever made a wack track? Answer: NEVER. On this supreme joint, the mic deities trade bars while droppin’ jewels that will keep you hittin’ REWIND. The stellar sonic back drop provides A-1 accompaniment for this unhinged lyrical assault. Enter the volcano & check out the lava flows!

6) CERTAIN.ONES’ supreme team of DZL, JIMMI DA GRUNT & DALI spray ya with “Magnified Pestilence” over WANN SKLOBI’s impenetrable production! Weak rhymes are banned from entering their perimeter so you already know the bar game’s at an extreme high. As they weave magnetic flows around the high level rhythms you can’t help but get caught up in the action. The crew spread infectious beats & rhymes throughout the globe. It’s an audio onslaught of epidemic proportions!

7) CHUCK N LOCK are back at it again with another WOLFAGRAM laced heater & this one’s destined to become a “Cult Classic!” The “Famous Last Words” power gem is awash with hallucinogenic rhythms & effects. As the off-kilter atmosphere lulls you into a trance you’re suddenly bombarded by top tier rhyme schemes that snap you out of your reverie. When it comes to lyrics these guys are the leaders of the pack. Take one listen & you’ll follow them anywhere!

8) KILLY SHOOT x TONE BEATZ join forces with GENERALBACKPAIN to show you who possesses the “Power!” Crime, treachery, corruption…they’re all here on this master cut from “These Violent Delights!” The track starts off with a bang(literally)and holds us hostage for it’s entire 2 minute and fifty-one second runtime. Luckily it’s the kind of captivity we appreciate! You have two of the most creative lyricists ripping into a phenomenally produced track that pulls you deep into the valley of darkness & destruction. Enter the shadows & fight through your fears!

9) O.C. FROM N.C. x D.R.U.G.S. BEATS ain’t playin’ wit’ ’em as they f**k up your entire comfort zone on “Jameson!” Rappers are gettin’ lazier by the second but MCs like O.C. from N.C. are always on the grind! This ain’t a game! The lyrical beast breathes fire into the mic & sports nasty flows that conquer the competition! You gotta go all out for the win. They rise to the top and vanquish all foes!

10) EARL SWEATSHIRT x ALCHEMIST get the final say on the countdown this week with a Craft Singles heater titled “45!” The lyrical iconoclast crashes the set with a brazen bar fest over Al’s soulfully sizzling steez! You can run but ya can’t hide when E opens up the case on ’em. It’s brief, effective, and exactly what ya need!

Well that’s it for this week. Catch ya next time and…DON’T SLEEP!
