Insomniac Magazine’s Hip Hop top 10 for June 12, 2017

1) TCOR & DANIEL SON combine forces to deliver the best beats & rhymes in the biz on the spectacular sonic wrecking ball, “Currency From Belgium!” The ominous boom bap soundscape launches Brown Bag Money’s verbal assassin into a lyrical tirade that finds the illustrious emcee dissing wack artists who depend on featured rappers to boost record sales, looking for an exit to avoid The Grim Reaper, and even dropping a sly reference to troubled Pink Floyd founder, Syd Barrett! It’s the kind of currency that keeps the underground BOOMIN’! Invest in Daniel Son & The Custodian Of Records and watch your profits rise!

2) When The COHORTS bound onto the scene the opposition start running! LMNO & TWIZ THE BEATPRO devise a “Triangle Trap” that equals disaster for their foes and pure ecstasy for their legion of fans! Sprawling piano keys, a Boom Bap beat, and vicious rhymes ensnare the listeners and capture the full attention of a Hip Hop hungry public ready for underground approved heat! You’ll never escape their sonic grasp…and you won’t want to! LMNO & Twiz set up the trap…and we’re happy we fell right in!

3) ACTION BRONSON & BIG BODY BES felt the holy spirit as they praised Alchemist’s outstanding production on the soul awakening banger, “Brother Jedidiah!” “The Good Book Vol. 2” gem took listeners to church, raptured them up to heaven, then grounded ’em with a dose of reality at the Rikers Island runway! Don’t rock yellow pajama pants when listening…that’s a BIG NO NO!!! Just put your faith in the music. Everything’s gonna be alright!

4) When BEAST MODE & CERTAIN.ONES team up the competition better “Be Careful!” The colossal collective come across like a lyrical battering ram against Jordan Beats’ supreme sonic backdrop! Each spitter has a distinctive style that takes the track in a new & exciting direction from the MC who came before. It’s the perfect study in how flow, tone, and content influences the “vibe” of a song. Listen to the Master Class in lyricism below & salute the brilliant artists who made it possible!

5) CRIMEAPPLE delivers hardcore lyrics over Billy Loman’s sinister soundscape & listeners are “Fortunate” enough to go along for the ride! The bilingual BARbarian chokes the life out of the mic as he drops so many murderous rhymes America’s Most Wanted will probably run a profile on him later this week! This is the kind of track you’ll hear when the mob drives you out to the desert to make you dig your own grave! Mind your own beeswax and listen to the music! Who’s FUEGO?!? CrimeApple & Billy Loman set the underground on fire!!!

6) OPIO & PEP LOVE rifled through gems in the vault & released a FIRST LIGHT masterwork called “Livin’ The Life!” The Unjust laced joint(that failed to make the cut of the “Fallacy Fantasy” album) possesses a hypnotic nature that will leave listeners transfixed by the superior rhymes and production. When dealing with the wicked ways in the world put your problems aside and live your life. First Light will show you the way!

7) SLEEP SINATRA tapped into his higher consciousness and redirected his life with the aid of a Mamadu produced power track called “Keep Grace.” The soulfully exotic gem channels spiritual energy and conjures majestic imagery of ancestral opulence and pride. Bear witness to a lineage of expression. The sweet escape awaits!

8) CA$ABLANCA takes us into the trenches of underground’s Hip Hop terrain with the Eyedee laced banger, “Nakatomi Plaza!” The top tier production serves as an impenetrable vest of bullet proof protection for the lyricist as he boldly walks into the line of fire and emerges unscathed! Bars like these don’t just happen! They’re carefully crafted for the public’s consumption & showcase the spitter’s impressive range. Nothing less than excellence must emerge from the lab. Ca$ablanca has been honing his skills to the point of perfection!

9) GEE of the Understudies announces his return with a bold, IN YOUR FACE, F-U to the competition on the CTZN laced banger, “Gutter!” Don’t be filled with animosity because Gee rhymes better than you. He was just born that way! As he crushes your dreams over CTZN’s boulder shattering production, just remember to fill out that UPS application…because you most certainly won’t be touching the mic again!

10) LORDLUMINOUS is truly a “Monstrous, Conglomerate, Astonishment!” What does that mean? We’ll make it simple for you – DOPE ARTIST! The rising MC/producer has been steadily moving up the ranks of the industry for several months culminating in the magical Hip Hop/Neosoul merger, “Soul Lit!” The stellar self-produced super track is a spirit lifting endeavor that pays off with incredible grooves, a boom bap beat, clever rhymes, and a fantastic hook! We love to end off the countdown with a banger! LordLuminous gives us one that puts the substance back into our soul. Vibe out & stay balanced!

Well that’s it for this week. Catch ya next time and…DON’T SLEEP!
