Veteran emcee Nine has one of the most distinctive voices and deliveries in Hip Hop. His entry into the music industry began during the golden era in a group called Deuces in Wild with their quintessential 80’s track “Deuces is Def,” a staple on iconic radio DJ Chuck Chillout’s show at that time. Despite The Bronx emcee’s regular plays on radio with that record, his foray into the spotlight was years later as vocalist on Funkmaster Flex’s hit “Six Million Ways to Die” single. After that track broke through, he signed a deal with Profile Records and released his successful debut album entitled “Nine Livez,” which spawned the classic single “Whutcha Want?,” and the rest is history. Since those early days, he’s traveled the world touring, appeared on television, and has had music appear on television. Three decades after his entry onto the scene, Nine has paired with German Hip Hop production phenoms The Snowgoons on an impactful album aptly titled “King.”
In this in-depth interview with Israel Vasquetelle, the storied Hip Hop artist shares his amazing journey that spans three decades in the music industry.
