L BEAN does double duty as emcee and beatmaker on his impactful new album. Regarding his production approach, he explains, “I fully produced, mixed and mastered this entire album and none of my beats contain samples or loop packs.” The vibes that he elicits is one of a Hip Hop purest. The flows employed are both throwback and contemporary, with edgy, raw and mindful commentary; and, he pulls those off flawlessly. For example, on “Bring It Back” the talented wordsmith crashes out of the gate with a Rakime-sque delivery. On “Respect,” he unleashes a lyrical fury alongside fellow mic ripper Hercules. “Poppin” rocks with dark trapish keys and the rhyme content hits hard. Throughout his new release, the audio artisan impresses with a variety of sonic textures. Don’t sleep, be sure to ride that “Midnight Train To Boston.”
