Lost Tracks From Bizmarkie & Masta Ace Emerge On “Top Shelf 1988”

Back in the 80’s, the Lower East Side’s Top Shelf Studios was a hotbed of Hip Hop talent. Future stars such as Special Ed, Doug E. Fresh, Big Daddy Kane and a host of others made it a key destination point for recording until a looting incident revolving around the Tompkins Square Park riots left the studio in shambles & the all important master reels missing & unaccounted for. Fortunately, after 30 years, the music has been recovered in time for a full compilation release on November 30th. Below are two tracks from the sessions featuring a funky lyrical workout from Bizmarkie a sobering tale of police brutality from Masta Ace that shows ya ain’t a damn thang changed in modern society. Check ’em out below!
