When asked about his inspiration for the track, Vincent The Owl explained to Insomniac Magazine, “…being an underdog is a common theme in my writing. An attitude and a way of life saying “You’re not going to say anything to get under my skin that I won’t say about myself first.” Being an underdog isn’t negative. People tend to feel comfort hearing about the problems, struggles and setbacks of others. I’ve cultivated a fanbase that resents the powerhouse artists that win every award and hit number 1 all the time on the charts. And taking it a step further – I’m gloating that I’m “not as cool” as those types of artists. At the same time, those types of artists and myself are similar in a sense that we’re both braggadocious but I’m boastful in the opposite way.”
