On October 30th, 2002 the world lost pioneering DJ sensation Jam Master Jay to gun violence. Sixteen years later, the RUN DMC turntable legend’s murder still remains unsolved. A new Netflix documentary that premiered December 7th explores the circumstances surrounding his death and possible new leads in the case. It delves into many of the behind the scenes players in his business ventures, personal life and neighborhood fixtures. It gives an insightful look into the tragedy that was not only inflicted on a Hip Hop icon and those who loved him, but provides commentary on the unsolved murders in the communities of color.
