Review: Vic Spencer Turns Up The Heat & Transforms The Music Industry On “Things Change, I Don’t” (Album)

Vic Spencer eschews all music platforms to ensure listeners come directly to him for the release of his riveting new audio masterpiece “Things Change, I Don’t.” Instead of copping the project on Bandcamp or Spotify, fans can send a payment to Vic via PayPal or Cashapp & have access to the Chicago mic champion’s personal Dropbox. Not only will you be able to check out the vast abundance of sonic gems, but you’ll also have a say on how the final product will sound. That’s right! Vic will take all comments into consideration to assist him in shaping the master opus for its eventual online & in-store delivery to consumers worldwide! Fortunately we were granted the opportunity to dive into the ambitious work-in-progress and only have one firm comment to make: DON’T CHANGE A DAMN THING!

The flows & rhyme techniques Vic employs on this album are light years beyond those of his industry peers. While other emcees appear to be in constant combat with their producers, Vic effortlessly glides over expansive soundscapes until he becomes one with the track. The nfidell laced “Thinking In Your Sleep” is a prime example of the spitter’s creative acumen & mesmerizing mic technique. He seems to be dropping verses from the heavens as the ethereal sonic backdrop highlights Vic’s otherworldly presence on the cut. “Hail Mary on Speed Dial” is a supa1983 produced gospel-infused joint that finds Vic at his most playful…and most confident!

On “Don’t Talk To Me” it’s interesting that the bar slinger uses lachlan SLAUGHTER for production because Vic murders the beat! “Hardcore Friday”(ft. Fly Anakin) & “Concussion Stand”(ft. Ankhlejohn)also provide an unstoppable supply of HEAVY lyrical showmanship while “Laurel Canyon Mansion” & “The Early Pimp Gets The Perm” present the challenge of rhyming over unusual arrangements. Vic accepts the challenge by pushing the limits of his talent to the point of no return. The most incredible thing about this album is that of the 14 tracks presented, there are no weak links. The lyricist is making some of the most impressive Hip Hop music on the scene & that unique achievement must not go overlooked. On “MMM Ville,” Vic mentions he’s “probably the realest n***a left on the earth.” Listen to the authenticity of his latest platter and you can’t help but believe him!
